So there has been alot of fuss over this photo looking very similar to the cover of the Twilight book. I'd like to take this time out to state that the similarities between the two happen to be completely unintentional & very unfortunate. I did not realize how alike the two were til after I posted it on another site some months ago. So now that you know that I am aware of how similar the two look you can all stop bringing it up please.
The inspiration did not come from Twilight at all, in fact I am not even remotely close to being a fan of stalkerish sparkly vegetarian vampires. I got the idea to do this last year after a friend sent me a link to Gnarls Barkley's video for "Who's Gonna Save My Soul". I had intended to originally do several photographs using hearts but this was the only one I ever got around to doing.
By the way, for all those wondering: Its a pig's heart.

I don't know which is more sad, that an image like this, that is so striking and oddly moving in it's way (though being a squeemish person I can only look at it briefly. I'm sorry) would be compared to Twilight.
((I have to admit guiltily though that when I first saw it I thought it was a comment on Twilight and the creep factor it has.))
Or that many and numerous books (classics and just simple urban fantasy) have been rereleased with covers imitating the style of the Twilight books. At my old job they had Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre with the black, white and red style covers imitating Twilight. It was a little...disheartening...and then after I thought about it a while I started imagining Twifans seeing these books and picking them up, unfamiliar with the story and reading part way through and going "Hey, there aren't any vampires or werewolves in these books. 
anyway, as I said above, it is actually a very poignant image and I think it is the simplicity of it. I think it wouldn't have been as striking if you had done it any other way. Something about the red with the black is just very striking for some reason.

I purchased it from a Chinese butcher, it was about two dollars.

'I'll give you my heart' was singing softly through my mind as I was dazzeled by the shocking simple beauty of this piece.
Twilight should be honored this great piece of art even vaguely resembles it's cover and ******(h8er b h8in) contents.

I love this, and I feel like this photo at this very minute. And the title, "The Giver" makes it even more like me, and how I am.
So, I love this piece.
Its very moving, beautiful, dark and emotional.

Sorry that everyone is mistaking this for a Twilight image.
I think the red of the heart contrasts nicely with the pale skin and the dark background; it manages to stand out without being too bright and in-your-face. The blood on the hands is well-applied. It doesn't have that fake overkill feeling that so many "gory" shots seem to have.
