So there has been alot of fuss over this photo looking very similar to the cover of the Twilight book. I'd like to take this time out to state that the similarities between the two happen to be completely unintentional & very unfortunate. I did not realize how alike the two were til after I posted it on another site some months ago. So now that you know that I am aware of how similar the two look you can all stop bringing it up please.
The inspiration did not come from Twilight at all, in fact I am not even remotely close to being a fan of stalkerish sparkly vegetarian vampires. I got the idea to do this last year after a friend sent me a link to Gnarls Barkley's video for "Who's Gonna Save My Soul". I had intended to originally do several photographs using hearts but this was the only one I ever got around to doing.
By the way, for all those wondering: Its a pig's heart.

Very powerful statement here...and if you hadn't said anything about the Twilight reference, then I would have never made the connection between this lovely piece of art and that tripe. But even so, this really is creepy (in a good way, of course).

Well, to be honest, I didn't notice Twilight at all until I bought and read the book, then I started seeing it everywhere. But I still know people who have never heard of Twilight.

Perhaps, but it's not that unthinkable to come up with. Black, red, and white go well together, simplicity (no junk in the background) is looked well upon, and two hands holding something has been done well before Twilight (mounds of earth with a plant, and egg, water, etc.). Hell, I've made up names and found that I wasn't the only one to make up that name; it even turned out later that a person in real life had that name!

Yeah I will admit, I cracked open the first book when I first ever got it ages ago. Got about to the end of chapter one and had to put it down. It was utter slobber. Then my friends were like: READ IT COMMON. So I got about midway into chapter 2 and never touched it again. It was so....ugh. Horribly written. |C

Upon first glance I thought this might be a sly commentary on the book (Twilight), considering this cover more aptly describes the story than its original cover. I know better after reading the note, but I still find the implications amusing.
On the flip side, I have also had work taken the wrong way and I know how much that sucks. I just wanted you to know that either way--taken out of context or not--this is a very cool picture, and excellent work.
