***In this AU, The Princesses DIDN’T hand off their powers to Twilight, and still remain the primary Rulers of Equestria during the course of the story***

Princess Celestia - Cisgender Female (She/Her) // Heterosexual
((Partner: Lord of Chaos Discord))

Her hair grows exponentially faster than most Equestrians’, which she takes advantage of by frequently cutting down her mane and tail to where only the blue-colored base is showing. Celestia actually prefers it this way, but had been told at a young age by Starswirl the Bearded (her mentor/guardian) that it was necessary she keep her flowing locks as a means of amplifying her Royal status. Long, expertly maintained hair is a symbol of high class and riches in Equestria, which is why each member of the Canterlot Elite, both past and present, are known for such exaggerated lengths.
She’s an absolute dork. Like, the most fun-loving, daredevil extraordinaire, prankster, theater kid in all of Equestria. She designed most of the traps/security measures in the Castle of the Two Sisters not only for safety reasons, but primarily for the fun of watching her clueless sister trip over a concealed booby trap and get sent barreling down a slippery slide into a ball pit. When not tending to her duties as a Princess, Celestia can often be found watching live buckball games and annoying Luna with cheesy puns.

Is good friends with the current Captain of the Royal Guard, Captain Flash Sentry. Seeing as his job was to keep a close eye on her at all times (and that his husband was literally her nephew) it was only natural that the two became close pals fairly quickly. At first, Flash was a tad nervous with her sneaking out of the Castle to go participate in drama exercises every couple of days, but it wasn’t long before he actually started enjoying being her personal bodyguard each time she exited the premises.

She’d actually been in a committed relationship with Discord before his accession to the power-crazed lunatic he was during the Chaos Era. After his reformation, it took years for Celestia to fully trust her former partner once again, but they eventually fell back into love and were soon wed in one of the most extravagant ceremonies in history; everyone (even those outside Equestria) was invited to join them on their special day.

Princess Luna Sparkle - Demigirl (She/They) // Lesbian
((Partner: Princess Twilight Sparkle))

Is a biiit of a comic book/superhero trope geek. She and Twilight attend the San Deneighgo (get it??? San De-neigh-go!) Comic Con every year, as well as every Marevel (Marvel) event they can. Her favorite character is Loki, which is precisely why she just about lost her mind when Celestia announced that their son was to be named after the famed Norse deity.

Has severe PTSD from her time as Nightmare Moon/being imprisoned for 1,000 years. Twilight often wakes up to her wife sobbing on their balcony as she lowers the Moon each night. She never blamed Celestia for what happened to her; she believes it would be unfair to expose her sister to even more guilt and stress on top of all the horrors she’s had to withstand for so long. Twi is easily Luna’s biggest supporter through it all, and will comfort and stand beside her partner ‘till the end of time. They’re friends were incredibly supportive of the pair when they’d first announced their relationship publicly - After all, the Moon and the stars were always meant for one another : )

Despite the controversial origins of the holiday, Luna has grown to wholeheartedly enjoy Nightmare Night as a whole. She’s super competitive when it comes to the usual games and challenges presented during the celebration, especially Ponyville’s annual costume contest. She believes that the more extravagant, time-consuming, and creepier the costume is, the better. She’ll start prepping it weeks, even months in advance in order to ensure her spot as number one.

Her mane is like a black hole; she can store whatever she pleases inside it, including trash she’s too lazy to get up and throw away (much to her wife’s frustration). The issue that comes with this unique feature is... it’s never guaranteed you’ll get your stuff back after it’s been consumed by the Almighty Hair God. She’s pleaded with her kids numerous times not to use her mane as a fort during hide-and-go-seek, ‘cuz who knows if they’ll ever come back out.

Princess Cadence Pie* - Cisgender Female (She/Her) // Pansexual-Polyamorous
((Partner: Captain Shining Armor Sparkle [DECEASED], Cheesecake Pie (MtF Cheese Sandwich) and Sediment Pie (FtM Maud Pie)))

She has an ongoing open relationship with her spouses, Cheesecake and Sediment. Though she isn’t currently dating anyone outside her committed marriage at the moment, Cadence has had previous flings with ponies such as Scarlet Heart, Ms. Peachbottom, Fleur De Lis, Royal Pin, and Donut Joe. Each partner of her’s has gotten along swimmingly with both her husband and wife, with no grudges or feuds between any of them. This married couple is well-known for being the most genuine, compassionate, kind-hearted bunch in all of Equestria - They’ve got bushels of love to go around : )

When she and her partners finally agreed on having children together, Cadence decided to conduct a spell that would combine all three of their genes into one foal. Cheesecake happily volunteered to carry the baby, of course. Buuuttt... something went wrong. Instead of changeling all her magic into one carrier, Cadence made a mistake in her alterations of the incantation and all three of them ended up becoming pregnant, each with a randomized set of genes. Eventually, she gave birth to her and Sediment’s child (Olive Branch), Sediment gave birth to her and Cheesecake’s child (Tough Cookie/Lil’ Cheese), and Cheesecake gave birth to her and Cadence’s child (Kindred Spirit).

Has a biiit of a nasty sweet tooth. Cheesecake learned that the hard way, after walking in on her wife devouring her secret candy stash one unforgettable evening. This resulted in a lengthy lecture about “not touching Cheese’s Special Sweet Stash,” as well as a temporary ban on all things sugary for the time being, all thanks to Cheese and Sediment’s agreement and Cadence’s utter horror.

Is permanently crystal-ized. She often switches between liking her extra shine and absolutely despising it. “I can’t fly go anywhere outside the Crystal Empire without practically blinding everypony I come across!” Seeing as being a Crystal Pony is a particularly rare phenomenon (her and Flurry are “half-blooded” Crystal Ponies, which is even more uncommon than the latter), this trait was (to her relief) not passed on to her future triplets.
