Anybody remember Goldran? Yeah, probably not. XD It was one of the last few anime in the "Brave" series, which was a competitor for Transformers at the time. Most people remember Brave for 2 reasons: GaoGaiGar and the "Is this a pigeon?" meme from one of the earlier shows.

Goldran itself was an attempt to make the show lighter and zanier, since it revolves around a group of anime teens trying to collect all the "Power Stones" (unrelated to the amazing Capcom fighting game I love) before the bad guy can. In this episode, the gang finds what they believe to be a Power Stone... Only to be told that it isn't a Power Stone and is just a cursed jewel called "The Tear of Bonito".

Once finding out that the gem releases Nekomata, an evil cat spirit, they leave it alone... Only for the villain Walter to arrive, attempt to take the gem, and release Nekomata. So, our heroes slowly transform into cats over the course of the episode resulting in the above image: Everyone turning into adorable anthro anime cats with cute designs and no pants.

I honestly prefer these designs to their base forms. Japan's got this real knack for having the transformed forms of character look awesome as hell, better than what American shows tend to do. In America, it's mostly just "take an animal and put the main character's hair on it". Here, the transformed form looks vaguely like the original dudes, but has enough flair and uniqueness to be a completely different character.

Regardless, this is episode 25 of Goldran. You can find it on YouTube. Fun little TF episode and it's nice having transformations where the heroes slowly transform over the course of the episode instead of all at once. Kind of wish these cat forms became canon alternate forms though, cuz they're just so GOOOOOOOOD!
