Description So yeah, recently the new Gundam show was announced. In anticipation, they released a short OVA that acted as a pilot. And it's the first Gundam series to have furries in it, YEAH! I know what you're thinking "Gundam with furries, BUT HOW?!" Well, all of the Gundam action takes place within a MMO. People are allowed to make their own avatars, so some choose to be anthros. It's kind of like Sword Art Online in that respect. This wolf guy (and his purple haired friend) appear in a split second scene during the end of the episode. Though in the episode itself we get another anthro, who is this otter/rodent guy who takes on the main character's idol in an epic team battle.

Honestly, I like it for more than just the furry designs. For one thing, battles are highly strategic, which is awesome. Each battle is reliant on Teamwork, which is badass. Plus the designs for all the characters are pretty memorable, even the incidental side characters, such as the ones pictured above. If the series itself is as good as the OVA pilot, then it gets a definite watch from me.Β

For those curious, the short is called "Gundam Build Divers Prologue" and can easily be found on YouTube. Both this screenshot and the short itself are properties of Sunrise and Bandai, I own nothing. Please support the official release.

A FAR better Gundam spin-off then SD Gundam, wouldn't you agree?

Oh definitely! SD Gundam didn't have furries in it, making this one the victor. XD

While I take no interest in the β€œfurry” fandom I will admit, this wolf guy looks seriously bada**, he’s like Bergamo from DBS except...not

He's got that Beargamo vibe to him, I must admit. And yeah, furries aren't for everyone. When I started writing TFs, I just pretending to be a furry, then I actually became one later. XD

Interesting, in my case I just find anthropomorphic animals to be creative and lead to very interesting character designs but I find that when β€œfurries” aren’t being creative or interesting but rather just uncomfortable. I find that calling people furries is just pointless though since their just people with interests like anyone else, it’s like me saying β€œI’m a Wii U”. But I think that this guy and Bergamo just look cool and interesting. And quite frankly the only reason why I give things like TF’s and Body Swap stories is because experiencing the world with a different body type, appearance etc. Is a whole other world of possibilities. With anthropomorphic creatures being part of that.

I mean, it's not like they haven't made a bat**** insane AU series before, so they could have gone that route for the furry insertion as well. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, Google "this hand of mine glows with an awesome power" and hold on to your hat)

You mean G Gundam? Man, that sh** was insane and I loved it. XD A horse piloting a gundam, a mermaid gundam, a gundam that looks like a windmill. I mean, this show was like crack on crack. XD

Yeah, and I haven't even watched it. I also somehow haven't watched a full Star Wars movie unless Spaceballs or The Force Awakens count (I already know that The Phantom Menace doesn't count)

Phantom Menace counts. I liked it, though I know everyone enjoys it. Spaceballs sort of counts, though it's more of a Star Wars parody instead of being an actual Star Wars movie. Still a great film tho. :3

Yeah, as far as "nerd cred" goes (and that was the actual context of the statement) Spaceballs was the one I saw as most likely to count. The Force Awakens isn't notable among the nerdery outside the 4chan-related conspiracy theories (which monstly concern /pol rather than any of the actual nerd boards), and The Phantom Menace is commonly disparaged as "George Lucas' fanfiction" as if that somehow made any sense. To be (un)fair, most of the dialogue and plot wouldn't pass muster as Star Wars fanfiction, but it's still in the top ten highest-grossing films of all time somehow. Just goes to show how far good special effects and a popular property can get you (see also: Michael Bay's Transformers)

I wouldn't call Phantom Menace a "fanfic", I actually kind of liked it. Fans of anything will call some new iteration a "fanfic". Honestly, I think PM gets too much hate, though I can admit it has serious problems.

That's bound to bring some hype.
