Honestly, I like him better this way! So, if you grew up in the 80s and 90s, you probably remember cereal commercials being a lot better. I mean, back in the day cereal commercials would have contests for kids, story arcs, and just some insane imagery on occasion. A lot of the cereal commercials nowadays are just "Hey, how can we get Tony The Tiger to something vaguely sports related this week?" Anywho, this classic comes from 1991, around the time Billy West took up the role as the second voice of the Cheerios Bee. It at was this point the bee (who would later be named Buzz) didn't really have a name or defined personality.

Anywho, in these two ads (which you can find on YouTube) Buzz gets turned into a donkey by a witch. Why? Because he offered a witch cereal, and that ticked her off. So after turning her into a donkey, he offers her cereal again, which seems like a recipe for disaster. This time she actually takes the cereal, and flies off with Buzz stuck as a donkey. And honestly, you could've just ended it right there and kept him as a donkey. I mean, he's adorable as a donkey and just looks cuter that way. Though it would be hard for him to explain to his hive (he has a hive, right?) that he went from bee to donkey.

In the second ad, Buzz whines enough to the point where the witch takes pity on him and changes him back to normal. Honestly, I found this to be a pretty lame resolution. At least have him stay as a donkey for more than two commercials! I feel like it's such a waste of a good design, and a concept that could prove to be interesting. I mean, a cereal commercial bee being stuck as a donkey and trying to find a way back to normal? That could be the basis for a ton of really good commercials! I can appreciate that they did keep the bee as a donkey for two commercials, and tried to work in some kind of story arc. Kind of sucks that it was resolved so easily.

Also, I apologize for the quality of the screenshot. The video was posted in 2007, and was most likely recorded on VHS. It doesn't help that YouTube videos back then had limited video quality, so I could only take a snapshot from a 240p version of the vid. But anywho, as usual I do not own this image. It's from an obscure Cheerios commercial from 1991. Please support the official release... By buying Special K instead of Cheerios I'm sorry, I just can't stand the taste of Cheerios to be honest.
