Description It was that time of year, when Christmas was over and it was time to say goodbye to the holidays for another year. Most people are just looking forward to getting back into the groove. One such person is the human known as James. James was your typical guy, unassuming and kind. He was currently wearing a red t-shirt, along with a pair of blue jeans. He wore a pair of plain white socks atop his oversized feet.

James stretched, he had a really good sleep last night. Today, he was ready to live life to the maximum! After all, he was going to be in today's paper! An article he had wrote was in today being brought to life today, and he was absolutely ecstatic about it. James looked in the mirror and stared at his disheveled brown hair and slightly above average looks. He gave his reflection a wink, before making his way towards his bedroom door.

He gripped the doorknob firmly, and threw open his door. James walked into the hallway and towards the stairs, all the while giggling and wondering how his article turned out. He started walking down the stairs, making sure to savor each step. He stepped slowly and gently, taking his time as best as possible. However, what James failed to notice was something at the bottom of the stairs.

A magician had come over the other day for his niece's birthday, and had accidentally left his magic wand at James' house. James failed to notice the enchanted apparatus as he made his way down the steps. Just as his foot tapped the wand ever so gently, James said a group of words he would soon regret: "Oh man, my article is going to be so fly!"

The wand was then activated, letting off a small yet intimidating glow. It quickly zapped James, causing him to disappear in a puff of smoke. His clothes fell to the ground in a heap, with the person who once wore them now nowhere to be seen. From within the left sleeve however, a tiny creature emerged. A tiny insect flew out of the sleeve and into the open air.

It appeared to be an average house-fly! It had a pair of six hairy legs, a body that was colored jet-black, a pair of fleshy wings, two disgusting segmented red eyes, and a gross-looking tube-like mouth. While the being appeared to be an insect, it had the mind of a human!

James had been transformed into a fly by the magic wand! James didn't realize what he was at first, but was soon taken aback by how different everything felt. He was confused as to why he could suddenly fly! Not only that, but he was surprised at the fact that he was now naked.

Why am I already naked?! IT'S TOO EARLY FOR MY VICTORY STREAK! Β The tiny fly thought, unaware of his current predicament. His tiny wings beat uncontrollably in the air, propelling him upwards and around objects. As his wings brushed against each other, they let out an obnoxious buzzing sound, one that annoyed James greatly!

His six hairy legs dangled in mid-air, as he flew around haplessly. Everything seemed so massive to him now, due to his downright miniature size. It wasn't helped by the fact that he now had segmented red eyes, which distorted his vision greatly. James flew out of the living room, his mind perplexed by the current goings-on. What happened to me?! James screamed aloud in his head, while being unable to mouth any words whatsoever.

The hapless fly flew into the kitchen, which now was the size of a large cityscape to him. The table and chairs towered above him, which intimidated the tiny creature immensely. James fluttered about, until he happened across a closed window. James saw his reflection and now realized what he was. I'm a fly?! I've gone from a semi-attractive human to a hideous insect?!

James flew using his wings and proceeded to land on the glass. His hairy legs planted themselves firmly on the window, which attached to the surface with no problem. James' insect feet felt like they had invisible suction-caps attached to them, which the new fly used to skirt up and down the glass with. James took his thin front legs and rubbed them together, much like how any normal insect would.

It felt so weird to rub his feelers together, he found it almost relaxing in a way. James gazed at his garish insectoid visage in disbelief. Those ugly big red eyes, that disgusting proboscis, all signs of him being nothing more than an ugly little pest! After rubbing his feelers for a bit, James pushed his legs off the glass. He once again took to the air, his thoughts racing as he did so.

James proceeded to panic and buzz around in a circle, trying to think of a way to return to normal. That wand did this! I just know that stupid wand was behind this somehow! James continued to circle haplessly through the air, until he realized something. The magician said any spell cast by the wand only lasted one hour, so there was nothing to fear!

James just needed to keep his wits about him and focus on garbage! Sweet delicious garbage, yummy! Wait, garbage?! No, he needed to focus on getting to the newspaper! Although, newspapers are often used to swat flies... James' insect instincts were starting to mess with his mind, but he knew he had to ignore them and get to his destination!

James fluttered off towards the front door, where his mail-chute was situated. Seated right atop his indoor mat was the newspaper, the one his article was in! Perfect! Thought James as he buzzed towards the newspaper. However, his body stopped uncontrollably as soon as he came close to the newspaper. He tried to will himself forward, but he couldn't!

For some reason, he had this immense fear of the newspaper! The insect part of him was afraid, and wasn't allowing him to get any closer to it. Darn it! Move, you stupid buzz-butt! James shouted aloud in his head, attempted to fight his fly fears. However, he still couldn't get any closer to it.

Alright, fine! It's not like I'd be able to read with these stupid bug-eyes anyways... James grumbled on the inside, as he flew away from the door. James flew back into his kitchen and decided to just flutter about as an insect for a while.

James then began to mindlessly fly towards the window, seemingly against his will. James flew right into the window, and rammed into it. Surprisingly, it didn't really cause him any serious pain. He just bounced off it and tried again. After a few tries, he gave up. Stupid insect depth perception! I mean, it looked like I could go through this!

James then looked over at the garbage can and was almost tempted to try his luck at eating from it. No, I ain't doing that! I may be an insect for the next hour, but even I have my principles. James then flew out of the kitchen, so he wouldn't be tempted to try his hand at eating from the garbage can.

James flew upstairs and towards his room, deciding to just go back to sleep and wake up when this nightmare was over. The fly drifted in through the doorway, which was now as large as a massive gate to the former human. James was about to fly towards his bed, when he remembered that flies can't close their eyelids! Thus, sleep was not possible for the tiny insect. James was about to leave the room, when he noticed his TV screen was on. Ooh! Light!

James' segmented red eyes were entranced by the light the screen was giving off, to the point where he felt like he was being beckoned over! James could not resist the luminescent glow and flew towards the screen. James flew about haphazardly, his tiny body zigzagging in odd patterns towards the big sheet of light.

James landed on the glass screen and pressing his Velcro-like against the glass once more. James scuttled about the screen, enjoying the light that was shining before him. Aw yeah, baby! I may be stuck as a fly for a bit, but at least I some shininess coming my way! James shouted aloud in his head, as he found himself strangely starting to enjoy being a fly.

Even though it would be at least 30-40 minutes before James could finally see his article in print, at least he would eventually be able to gaze upon it with human eyes. For now, he was enjoying his carefree time as a bug. It's too bad James' segmented eyes didn't allow him to properly see what was playing on the TV screen he was scuttling across. If he could, he would see that the movie playing on the TV was rather ironic, in a funny sort of way. For the film playing on television at that very moment was "The Fly", the cheesy 1950s horror film about a man who became an insect.

Well, I can always use the wand again to turn back into a fly for another hour. Want me to demonstrate?
