Porco Rosso Ghibli character for the Anime 3D Fan Art Challenge. Also a small tribute to sad news about Ghibli Studio. Well, the greatest pig of The Adriatic Sea xDSculpted in ZBrush, Props are modeled in Blender, Rendered in Maya VRay.

This is probably a very, VERY big question, but how difficult would it be to animate something while preserving the quality and detail of the piece?

Like several times more difficult than just to create a still image like this. Rigging, believable animation, cloth simulation. Even 10 seconds would be tons of work.

20 years ago, almost to the day, I saw my first Studio Ghibli film... Porco Rosso. Β I had just entered college and was at local anime clubs first meeting of the year. Β I have been hooked on anime ever since, and dear Porco has stayed as my all time favorite Ghibli flick of all time as well.

Thanks! I remember when I was in anime club too. Back then we hadn't got the Internet and there were no shops to buy anime or manga. So we exchanged CDs. Some people had thousands of items to exchange xD

Wow. I thought the same as Ngoyen and assumed this was a figurine. It's an awesome pose and overall render; really well done. I don't think Porco Rosso gets enough attention so I'm really glad to see someone put this much effort and skill into a tribute.
