This one goes back to 1st Feb 2023, quite early this year. Yes I'll admit that Ryoko's neck is a bit too long in hindsight πFor lore:
Kenji is the ancestor of jazz musician Minoru Suzubana. His bloodline, Clan Suzubana, originated from the Suishou region.. otherwise known as Johto today
However, Kenji had been on the Galaxy Expedition to Hisui since his childhood, following his father who had been recruited for it. After coming of age he became a member of the Survey Corps, and through his journeys met an orphaned Riolu who he named Ryoko. He raised her with all he could and trained her in his martial craft
After several displays of courage, compassion, and skill, he was deemed worthy of taking his father's place as Bannerman of the family. A decade later, Hisui had become developed enough to govern itself, and as such diplomacy with other regions became vital. Kenji and his PokΓ©mon were chosen as envoys to represent the Hisui region (the name "Sinnoh" still wasn't widely accepted yet), as they travel southward on a diplomatic mission
(The Suishou region is a concept from the fanmade PokΓ©mon Legends Celebi, which I have no involvement with)
