"Wait for me, alright? I'll come back and we'll find somewhere safer, okay? I will come back," Damien told his younger brother before leaving. Nico waited for the day his brother would return, but it never came. Those walking corpses forced him to leave. He scavenged what ever seemed useful and could fit into his messenger bag, and he left. For a while he was on his own, setting traps near his little camp and killing any dead that came close.Β
In that time alone, he relived the events that led up to this. He was at home with his brother, Damien, his mother was at the market getting groceries for dinner, and he didn't have a father to remember. The brothers were in the living room just sitting and talking when the phone rang. He remembered Damien's reaction to the phone call from their mother. The pale face, wide eyes, shaky voice... it scared Nico to see his brother that way.Β Nico could barley hear his mother's rasping, pained voice as she sobbed apologies and farewells before the call hung up. They tried calling her again, but there was no answer. Something was wrong. Damien cautiously went to the window. "Nico, come here..." Damien ordered. He did as he was told and what he saw out the window shocked him. There were people attacking each other, biting and ripping apart limbs from bodies. They were grotesque in appearance with their rotting flesh and bloody forms. "Wh-what is that?! What's going on?!" Nico asked feeling panicked. "Come on, we have to get somewhere safe," his brother replied. They packed food, supplies, water, and a battery-powered radio before going upstairs to their mother's room to get the pistol and packages of bullets their mother kept locked in the dresser by her bed. While upstairs, the sound of pounding on the door and breaking glass shattered the tense silence. "We have to get out of here," Nico hissed under his breath. Damien loaded the gun and took a deep breath, "We are." BANG! BANG! BANG!
Gunshots snapped Nico out of thoughts and he jumped to his feet. He wasn't sure on what move to make, but decided to venture out of the "safe zone" that was his camp and scout out his surroundings. Gunshots meant survivors. And survivors could mean Damien...

Lilly peered at the boy before her, she had her whip in her hand ready to crack it on him if she had too. She was running low on water at the moment and was nearly thirsting for some.Β
"Hey you!" Her small sweet voice rang out, her whip lay unfolded in attack position.Β
"What kind of loot are you carrying?!" She cried out.Β

Nico stared at the girl, startled at the sudden confrontation. He eyed the unfolded whip in her hand and decided against fighting her with his machete. Although he figured he'd probably win if it were to come to a fight. "Depends on what you mean by 'loot.' You see..." he opened his messenger bag and rummaged through it, "I just have a couple of water bottles and some other stuff. Why do you ask? Are you planning on robbing me or something?" He raised an eyebrow at Lilly questioningly.

Lilly eyed him and listened to him, as he pulled out the water bottles her green eye lit up. Her mouth watered for it, she could easily snatch it with the whip but she did not want to cut him in the process.Β
"I do!" She cried out gripping her whip, she pointed to the water bottles in his hand. She eyed the water then him, then the water.
"give me that water or I will be forced to whip you." She told him and cracked the whip one good time in the air, it gave a loud POP!Β

The sudden crack set Nico's defenses on edge. He held the water bottle out to her, but held his machete in the other hand. "Fine, take it," he said.

Lilly eyed him as he held it out she shifted her whip, and with precision she cracked it and it wound around the bottle snatching it from his hand.Β
She took the bottle and chugged deeply, and let go as she panted. The water was delicious! She had drank half of the bottle, and then glanced at him.Β

"I can obviously tell you were thirsty," Nico noted then handed her the other bottle.

Lilly eyed him and shook her head, pushing the bottle back back to him. She would keep the half bottle she had chugged.
"Keep it... "She paused. "Your suppose to be afraid! I am robbing you." She threatened holding up her whip but he was standing too close now for her to whip him. Hopefully he would not notice, maybe she still seemed intimidating.Β

Nico put the bottle back into his bag and laughed. "You're really still trying to rob me... Is that a way of showing gratitude for me willingly handing over my precious, life-sustaining water?" He smirked at her.

Lilly eyed him and blushed a bit with fist balled up.
"N-no! Your suppose to be afraid and beg me for your life!" She told him as if that was how all robberies went, but when they involved a short 16 year old blonde girl it all seemed different. She took a step forward to grab him and ruff him up but she stepped right on the unfolded whip, slipping she landed face forward right at his feet with a groan. She laid there for a moment, embarrassed to even look up to the person who was suppose to fear her. She felt like such an idiot, how could she slip up. "I....." She sighed and did not even bother.

Nico stepped back then knelt down to help her up. "Hey, you okay?" he asked, concerned for the girl.

Lilly groaned and lifted herself half up off the ground, taking his help to get her up.Β
"All but my dignity." She groaned and looked up to him with a narrowed green eye. "Why are you so nice to a robber?" She asked standing now, coiling her whip up in her hand.Β

Nico shrugged, "No offense, but you're not much of a robber. And I'm just nice to pretty much everyone... An exception being zombies of course." He tilted his head to the side and smiled. "And I'm sure you're dignity will be fine," he said.

Lilly eyed him and tossed her hair back over her shoulder.
"I have to learn to do this or I will not survive in my community." She told him with balled up fist of determination. "...Wah...what community are you in?" She asked with a tilted head, and she shifted her whip in her hand she still did not trust his kindness.Β

Nico replied, "I'm in the Clubs clan. What clan are you in?"

Lilly held up a fist and brought it down to her chest.Β
"I am in jokers clan proudly and strongly!" She said creating a star symbol with her fingers.Β
"Or something like that!"Β

"Never heard of them," Nico bluntly replied. "What was that with the weird sign thing?" he asked, trying to imitate the symbol she made with her fingers. "Eh, being in the Clubs clan is great! Vincent's an awesome leader!"

Lilly narrowed her eye and redid the symbol with her hands.
"Its the symbol of the jokers! We are not well known because we are scavengers...not like the other communities." She then shrugged. "We don't have a leader yet, they are tallying votes." She told him arms crossed across her bust. "The jokers are a quiet community who are swift in the night." She said with pride her nose up in the air.Β

"Oh yeah, well the clubs don't need to scavenge 'cause we're the best gatherers!" Nico said. He nodded to himself. "I make traps. From bear traps to nets. They're mostly used for catching zombies who get too close though, but they work great for other things."

Lilly made a face.
"Well we cant have a good community because others always take it all!" She said poking her tongue out at him.Β
"I am pretty handy with my whip, " She said and then tossed some hair over her shoulder again. "Besides we are the best ninjas you will ever meet." She told him.Β

Nico rolled his eyes. "Suuure... And I'm pretty handy with my machete," he replied, smirking, "Ninjas, you say? I didn't know ninjas shout 'hey you!' when they're about to possibly attack someone..."

Lilly narrowed her eye.
"...-i...am still working the kinks out on that!" She cried out and balled her fist up again.Β
"I wasn't going to attack you." She blushed as she thought about it. "I cant hurt...another living person."

He laughed at her reactions. "Oh really? Then why do you carry a whip? If you ask me that whip was like made to inflict pain upon living things," Nico said.
"While my machete here is used to cut branches and rope and etc," he added. His smirk grew into a grin. "And I'm glad you can't hurt another person. Now I know I have nothing to worry about when it comes to you robbing me."

Lilly glanced at her whip then back at him as she listened, he had a point.
"W-el..its a lion tamers whip! Its not meant for people." She said as she uncoiled it and cracked it again in the air. "Its meant to put fear into my enemy as his thoughts are the enemy of what I may do." She told him and then huffed. "I could hurt someone if I tried!" She said turning her nose up.Β

Nico laughed, "I bet you can't. It's just a whip."

Lilly narrowed her eye and ran a few steps back.
"ALRIGHT!" She cried out as she cracked it at him, wrapping it tightly around his arm she snatched it and then wrapped the whip around his body lenth pushing him to the ground in a tied up mess. She grinned down at him.

Nico squirmed, trying to loosen the whip's grip as it coiled around him. "Alright, alright, you can help me out now," he huffed. He scowled. "What are you smiling at?" he asked then pouted.

Lilly looked down at him and knelt beside him.
"I am not sure, someone was talking mad junk about my group and such." She said poking his face with her finger. "Do you really want to get out?" She asked him and a groan made her stiffen and she turned to see a zombie a few feet form them. "WEIRDO!" She cried out lowly to him.Β

Nico gulped at the sight of the zombie and began squirming more. "Okay, let me out now!" he exclaimed. His hand gripped his machete tightly but because he was tied up he couldn't move it much.

Lilly wiggled at the whip and tugged, a large part of the base had gotten a bit stuck around a smaller part of the whip.
"Situation...situation! Its stuck!" She cried out as she pulled at the whip with all her might, the zombie inched closer. "DAMN IT!" She screamed snatching the whip with her whole body force she yanked it free and landed at the feet of the zombie with a thud. It groaned dripping dead flesh and she screamed deeply reaching for her dagger.Β

Nico was up as soon as his body was free and he buried the blade of his machete into side of the zombie's neck, cutting deep into it's shoulder and most likely breaking the collarbone. The zombie groaned, gurgled black, coagulated blood and staggered back away from them. He quickly pulled Lilly to her feet without a second thought.

Lilly got to her feet quickly and now held her dagger, dashing forward she sunk it deep into the forehead of the zombie and it dropped nearly taking her with it as she tried to pull the dagger out. Severing the brain connection was the first thing to do, she put a foot on his head and snatched the blade out with a grunt. She looked to Nico with wide eyes.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear him come up." She said feeling bad, he could of gotten eaten..well she could of stopped him but she still felt bad.Β

Nico examined the body to make sure it stayed dead then shook his head at her, "Why are you apologizing? It's okay." He gave her a reassuring smile. "We're fine and not bitten, so it's all good. But that was a bit of a surprise. I wonder if there are any more wandering around." He looked around their surroundings.

Lilly gave a deep sigh, stuffing her dagger back into her side pouch.
"Most of them tend to travel in a pack so we may need to get out of this place." She told him with a tense expression.Β

Nico swung his machete, flicking off drops of blood.
"Right, let's go."Β

Lilly began a brisk pace behind him, Lilly didn't exactly have a place to go she was actually scavenging. Food and water was what she needed, she needed food now.Β

Nico walked fast, intending to go back to the clubs community. "Watch out for traps," he said while looking over his shoulder at her to see if she was still following him. When he was on alert, the littlest things tend to go unnoticed by Nico which is why he checked up on her. "Something up?"

Lilly glanced up at him and asked.
"Look out for wah?" She was then snatched up by an ankle net, before she knew it she was dangling over a pit of groaning zombies. She screamed as she dangled wiggling to get loose.Β
"ZOMBIE!" Β She cried out.Β

Nico whipped around upon hearing her screaming and swore in his head as he quickly went into action. "Keep quiet!," he ordered, "I;ll get you out.Just hang tight." He took out his machete and cut the rope then proceeded to pull her up from the pit while zombies reached for her. Some even began to try and climb out of the pit, but it was dug too deep.

Lilly kept her mouth closed as she dangled as bait, she groaned.
"Get..me down!" She cried out to him. "Im going to be bait." She whined helplessly.Β

Nico continued to pull her up. "You're not going to be bait. Don't worry. Listen, Can you swing to the edge of the pit?" he asked, "try to grab the rope at your ankle and pull yourself up then use your body weight to swing to the edge. If you can't do that, then I'll have to do something you might not like..."

Lilly whined a bit as her ankle ached, she struggled to sit up to reach her ankle. It required too much upper body and she lacked all of it. She hissed at the brunign pain in her abs as she tried to sit up. Eventually she grabbed onto it and was right side up adn dangled. Out of breath she looked at the pole she needed to swing too. "I..am..afraid for my life!" She cried out to him, as the zombies groaned and moaned beneath her.

"I know you are, but you're going to be fine!" He shouted, Β trying to reassure her. He looked down at the zombies and gulped. "You're going to be fine..."

Lilly looked at the pole, gripping the rope for dear life she began a swing. Back and forth, back and forth,back and forth. She eventually held in her breath and reached for the pole. Clinging to it, all she had to do now was slide down it. Her arms were tired so they just let go and she dropped at Nico's feet. She groaned at the pain, she landed on her rib cage.

Nico helped her to her feet. "You okay?" He asked, mentioning to her ribs. He knew she didn't fall far enough to get too injured but the way she landed made him concerned. But he was relieved that she was, for the most part, alright.

Lilly groaned as she stood, rubbing her ribs she knew it would leave a bruise.
"For the most part yes." She said through gritted teeth. "Who the hell sets a trap out here in no where?" she asked glancing down at her whip that lay on the ground. She bent carefully to pick it up.

Nico blushed and sheepishly mumbled, "That would be me... S-sorry."

Lilly narrowed her eyes and rubbed her rib again.
"Why the hell are you setting traps?" She asked lowly, as she brushed her hair carefully back over her bad eye.

Nico frowned. "I didn't expect someone to fall in it. I mean, I made the marker pretty clear," he said, "the traps are for security measures anyway..." He scratched the back of his head, still looking away sheepishly.

Lilly muffled a grunt as she crossed her arms, narrowing her eye at him she gave a light laugh.
"Though it was pretty funny.." She giggled lowly into her hand.

"You call nearly dying funny?" he asked with an eyebrow raised questioningly. He then shook his head and lightly laughed, "you jokers seem pretty crazy."
