"Wait for me, alright? I'll come back and we'll find somewhere safer, okay? I will come back," Damien told his younger brother before leaving. Nico waited for the day his brother would return, but it never came. Those walking corpses forced him to leave. He scavenged what ever seemed useful and could fit into his messenger bag, and he left. For a while he was on his own, setting traps near his little camp and killing any dead that came close.Β
In that time alone, he relived the events that led up to this. He was at home with his brother, Damien, his mother was at the market getting groceries for dinner, and he didn't have a father to remember. The brothers were in the living room just sitting and talking when the phone rang. He remembered Damien's reaction to the phone call from their mother. The pale face, wide eyes, shaky voice... it scared Nico to see his brother that way.Β Nico could barley hear his mother's rasping, pained voice as she sobbed apologies and farewells before the call hung up. They tried calling her again, but there was no answer. Something was wrong. Damien cautiously went to the window. "Nico, come here..." Damien ordered. He did as he was told and what he saw out the window shocked him. There were people attacking each other, biting and ripping apart limbs from bodies. They were grotesque in appearance with their rotting flesh and bloody forms. "Wh-what is that?! What's going on?!" Nico asked feeling panicked. "Come on, we have to get somewhere safe," his brother replied. They packed food, supplies, water, and a battery-powered radio before going upstairs to their mother's room to get the pistol and packages of bullets their mother kept locked in the dresser by her bed. While upstairs, the sound of pounding on the door and breaking glass shattered the tense silence. "We have to get out of here," Nico hissed under his breath. Damien loaded the gun and took a deep breath, "We are." BANG! BANG! BANG!
Gunshots snapped Nico out of thoughts and he jumped to his feet. He wasn't sure on what move to make, but decided to venture out of the "safe zone" that was his camp and scout out his surroundings. Gunshots meant survivors. And survivors could mean Damien...

Lilly shook her head as her pale cheeks turned pink from laughing so hard. "Well, just the whole thought." She giggled quietly and then stiffened. "Well not all jokers...we are a bit unorganized due to no leader yet."Β

"That's understandable," he said with a nod. "Why'd you join the jokers anyway?"

Lilly, shrugged.Β
"Well...the jokers stand out..and I am honestly an outcast,,, I don't fit in with regular people. I mean a lion tamer who was on the run and only has one eye is not all that well to people." Her eye ached from when she talked about it.Β

"You're a lion tamer? Well, that would explain the whip." He smiled. "I think that's really cool. Plus no one should mind the eye. No one minds my scar."

Lilly blushed a bit and glanced down.
"Well yeah, I was in training..." She mumbled sadly and she then shrugged a bit. "My wound is ugly, it almost cost me my life." She whispered. "A zombie took my eye." She grumbled, she hated them even more than ever.Β

"I'm sorry... A gang of thieves tried to rob my brother and I, and that's how I ended up with this scar and my machete." Nico touched his cheek where the scar was and smiled bitterly. "Ah, if you were a lion tamer then you must've been in a circus right? What was that like? It seems that that'd be fun." He grinned and looked at her, obviously interested.

Lilly smiled a bit and her eye brightened.
"It was, we had lions, and zebras, and even an elephant named Rosa." She got sad a bit. "I guess they got left maybe, I have not found any of them." She said but shifted a bit. "It was fun traveling, always a different state, new people, showing off my talents..things like that."Β

"Wooooow~ That sounds so awesome! You must be very talented!" he said in admiration. He then blushed and scratched the back of his neck, giving an embarrassed chuckle. "S-sorry I just think that's really cool."

Lilly giggled slightly.
"Talented in silly things." She said tossing a hand, she could whip, and do things such as tight rope, and weird flex things.Β

"I still think that's cool. I'm not flexible and I don't think I'd ever be able to tame a lion at all." He laughed. "I think I'd get eaten in like five seconds."

Lilly smiled and gave a small blush.
"Its easier than it looks.." She told him reaching for her whip at her side, it was to be feared.Β

He scoffed and grinned. "I doubt it'd be that easy," he replied as he watched her go for her whip. "Let's test you talent shall we?" Nico said as he reached into his bag and grabbed a water bottle, granola bar, and a flashlight then put the items on the ground a ways away from them. He pointed at the things and said, "Try to grab the granola bar."

Lilly eyed the items, it had been a while since she did such things. She let the whip unroll, and it lay in a pile at her feet. She narrowed her good eye and focused, aiming for the food she raised her hand and the whip cracked as it struck the granola bar. Breaking the wrapper and leaving it exposed, she bit her lip. "Oops." She stated as she tried again, adjusting the lift of her arm she gave it another crack and this time the whip looped around the granola bar and sent it into the air. Lilly sprang forward and caught it with both hands and dropped the whip she giggled. She held it in her hands and turned to show Nico. "I sorta did it right?" She asked.Β

He laughed and grinned. "Yeah you did it. Now you get a prize," he said cheerfully. Then he walked and grabbed his things then returned them to his bag.

Lilly grinned as she bent down to pick up her whip.
"Well is it chocolate?" She asked sweetly with a brow raised.Β

"I think so," he said with a shrug, "if it isn't then I might have one in my bag."

Lilly's eye rose up.
"Are you serious? I havent had chocolate in almost 6 months." She said in a high pitched voice.Β

He laughed. "Well today's you're lucky day," he said and tossed her a chocolate bar, "Tada, you're lucky I managed to grab the last one."

Lilly's eye lit up and she ripped into the wrapper.
"Oh god!" She cried out and took a bite of the chocolate, it tasted a bit stale and it was slightly melted but it was a piece of heaven she missed.
"I have missed this so much. "She told him.Β

He smiled. "I'll make to sneak some more out for you," he told her.

Lilly's eye widened.
"More?" She muffled out of chocolate bites.Β
"There is more?" She asked him.,Β

Nico nodded. "Yeah, of course there's more. At my community."

Lilly licked the melted goodness off of her fingers.
"Oh goodness! You must share!" She cried out, waving a chocolate coverd finger in the air.

Nico laughed and pointed in the direction they were facing.
"Sure. The community's this way." He said then started walking, "please watch out for traps this time."

Lilly giggled then paused.
"W-wait...can I even go into your community?" She asked with a brow raised, almost in defense she thought deeply.Β

"Hmm... I don't know. But if you can't then I'll sneak some out for you," Nico replied.

Lilly grinned like a child.
"Yay, alright." She told hima s she trailed behind him going to the community.Β

He smiled and continued walking. Upon reaching the walls of the community, Β he stopped.
"Wait here" he told her and went inside.

Lilly waited patiently, her whip in her hands as she stood outside the large walls. She was paranoid, as the guards eyed her closely. Guns ready as if she were to make a move. She held her breath.

Nico came back put a few minutes later.
"I got 'em" he said, grinning and patting his messenger bag.

Lilly squealed and released her whip at her side and scurried away from the wall.
"I do not like this place, the guards eye ball me." She said in a groan, she could have made a run for it if she tried.Β

"Ah, sorry about that." Nico said, "but you can't really blame them. After all you are from a different community."

Lilly narrowed her eyes.
"I am an innocent one eyed blonde girl who wears a bunny clip." She pointed to the pink bunny clip holding onto her hair. Her blonde hair was free of stains, Lilly took pride in keeping the long locks clean. However her clothing was stained with a few dust and blood stains.Β

"I know, I know, but those guys don't and they take their job seriously" Nico told her.
He glanced at the clip and asked, "Why a bunny clip?"

Lilly's blushed a bit and giggled.
"Well it was my act, Lilly tha lion tamer. It was just a cute costume I wore, and plus I liked bunnies!" She said a bit embarrassed.Β

Nico smiled and laughed.
"Did you have rabbit years too?" he asked, jokingly.

Lilly smiled and nodded.
"At one point but, everyone thought it kinda weird that a bunny would tame a lion. So i dialed down to my bunny pin." she told him adn then eyed him.
"What were you before the out break?"Β

Nico shrugged.
"Well I wasn't nearly as cool as a certain lion tamer, but I'll admit I wasn't too bad." he chuckled.
"I was a high school student as well as one of the best soccer players on the school team alongside my brother."

Lilly nodded.
"I never got a chance to play soccer, but two clowns who traveled with us tried to teach me before they ventured off to another circus act." Lilly smiled a bit. "But that sounds fun, I never got a chance to go to high school. I was home schooled because of the constant traveling.." She told him. "But circus life is kinda fun you can meet interesting people."Β

Nico smiled.
"It was a lot of fun to play, especially since my brother and I were an unstoppable duo," he laughed a bit, "High school was ok. I don't think you missed much." He smiled, "I think circus life would've been much more interesting than anything I did."

Lilly grinned.Β
"Well I can at least show you how to do cool hand tricks." She said as she clipped her whip back on her side, she then fell forward and balanced herself on her hands adn walked a few steps before falling forward and finishing with a flip she threw her hands up.Β
"Neat right?" She giggled. "It took me weeks to do just that little bit with Ranger, he was the lion I tamed."Β

Nico nodded.
"Yeah that was really cool. You really think you could teach me how to do that?"

Lilly nodded.
"Of course." She told him. "Its just like a cartwheel, but you have to balance." Β She bent backwards and stood upside down on all fours, then kicked back and gracefully did three flips and fell onto her but and laughed.
"Well the back flips were a bit better when i performed, but they are easier. "She said as she dusted off her butt.Β

"That doesn't sound so hard..." Nico said
He fell forward, beginning to do a cartwheel and tried to keep his balance but fell onto his back.
With a groan he sat up, picking a leaf out of his hair.

Lilly giggled slightly and walked over to him.
"Here do it again and I will grab your legs to keep you still." She said standing behind him.Β

Nico sighed, "Alright."
He got up and tried again.

Lilly grabbed his ankles, standing on her tip toes just a bit to keep up with his height.Β
"Now just think light, think like a feather. " She told him as she held his balance.,Β

"Um, okay.... light like a feather... light like a feather" Nico muttered, mostly to himself.
He wobbled a little here and there, but did his best in keeping his balance.

Lilly smiled.Β
"Clear your mind, think of air." She said as she slowly loosened her grips on his ankles, trying to distract him with words so he did not realize.Β
"Keep your arms strong and never bend them." She told him.Β

"Ok" Nico said as he focused on the thoughts of air and lightness.
His arms trembled lightly but held firm.
