Description
Because They're Interesting: Buffy Summers (Buffyverse). The version of her played by Kristy Swanson in the campy early 90's movie was a bit on the ditzy side but thankfully Joss Whedon re-vamped the screenplay and made the show darker and more mature than the movie it was supposedly based on, thus Sarah Michelle Gellar is the default version of the character. She's a twist on the whole female character is always one of the last to die trope in horror movies and she's pretty much a Final Girl in the same sense as Ellen Ripley from Alien, she's one who became the designated hero of that universe.Because They're Badass: Machete Cortez (Machete/Machete Kills).
Because They're Fascinating: Lady Amalthea (Last Unicorn).
Because They're An Interesting Character: Lee (Critters 2). She, as I call her is a shapeshifting alien who I definitely think is most comfortable being a female, as indicated by the 'Body fit' line from an alternate version of the movie. I think that she must be extremely comfortable with being who and what she is.
Because I Can Sympathize With Them: Sherman Klump (The Nutty Professor 1996).
Because I Feel Bad For Them: Carrie White (Carrie).
Because They're Tragic: Andrew (Bicentennial Man) and Seth Brundle/Brundlefly (The Fly 1986)
Because They're Cool: Hessian Horseman (Sleepy Hollow) and Gabriel (Prophecy trilogy). They're both played by Christopher Walken. Nuff said and both of them are really hypnotic, especially Hessian with those eyes of his. In the original short story the horseman is a ghost but my headcanon is that Burton's Hessian is akin to a vampire because he has a lust for blood, he has sharp pointed teeth that make him look vampiric, and he has those eerie yet alluring eyes, his eyes are blue as well (like the vampires in the Underworld franchise). Gabriel is an angel who hates humanity, mainly because he feels that the lord has replaced angels with humans (or talking monkeys as he calls them) in the position of favourites. He has all sorts of badass supernatural powers as well.
Because This Character Makes Sense: Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise). It makes sense for Krueger to attack his victims in their dreams because it is said rather often that sometimes the safest place is the bedroom and that there is a sense of security and we feel safe when we're in bed and fast asleep. That's when Krueger uses this to his advantage, using his victim's fears against them. Also considering that Wes Craven came up with the idea of Nightmare On Elm Street after hearing about a series of deaths that happened and all of the victims were killed in their sleep, and also considering he based Krueger on someone who scared him as a kid. Freddy's iconic for a lot of reasons.
Because They're Flawed: Ash Williams (Evil Dead franchise).
Because They're Smart: Merton Dingle (Big Wolf On Campus). He's a walking encyclopaedia of monster knowledge, even has an assortment of items that he uses when helping his werewolf best friend fight monsters. If there is a monster problem, chances are he'll know how to solve it.
Because They're Misunderstood: Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin (Batman Returns).
Because They're An Archetype: Beetlejuice (Beetlejuice). He's the Magical Trickster character archetype, actually I think he was one of the first live-action examples of this type of character. Yeah, he's disgusting but he knows that he's like that. He makes wisecracks on a regular basis and is a hilarious character in general, it's easy to see why there are characters like Fred from Drop Dead Fred, Maurice from Little Monsters, Genie, Flabber, the Jim Carrey movie version of The Mask, and even characters like Discord from MLP: Friendship Is Magic and Maui (Moana) that have a similar kind of wisecracking supernatural being persona.
Because I Can Relate: Edmund Blackadder (Blackadder). He's what you might call a Villain Protagonist, but really...he's pretty much the way he is because look who's he's stuck with for pete's sake. He's stuck with Baldrick (proud owner of underwear that hasn't been washed in over a century and also obsessed with turnips. That was a recurring trait in the second and third seasons. In the fourth season, it was his terrible cooking skills), Percy (for at least two seasons), and George (for the third and fourth seasons). Blackadder's trademark insults and comments are pretty much his responses to the stupidity that is going on around him.
Because They Have Redeemable Qualities: Bojack (Bojack Horseman)
Because They're Honest: Simon Cowell. I know it's probably cheating to have him here but he actually IS honest, brutally so...but honest nonetheless. He is pretty much the opposite of Donald Trump. Simon and Gordon Ramsay are in the same field. Gordon has to put up with some truly awful staff members from time to time, and Simon has to deal with the most horrible auditions and most bizarre acts ever seen. He speaks his mind and when he speaks his mind, he means it. He can be nice on some occasions and he isn't always about putting others down, when he says the things he says, they are his way of saying whether or not he likes your performance and also gives them hints on how to improve, so he's teaching them. Trump on the other hand is usually the one STARTING the argument when he isn't complaining on a regular basis (for example the whole feud between him and Rosie O'Donnell) and he well...I don't think he actually has any reason to complain, he's just on 'Trump no likey' mode whenever someone upsets him or says something that makes him annoyed. He's just immature like that. Simon on the other hand wouldn't do anything of the sort, he wouldn't insult someone for no good reason, he actually has reasons.
Because They're A Little Like Me: Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters 1 and 2)
Because They're Nice: Donald Thompson (Nightmare On Elm Street series). I think the Elm Street series is one of those few slasher movie franchises where we actually see the parents being involved, we see Jason's mother in the first Friday the 13th and apart from those two, that's it. The teens in I Know What You Did Last Summer? Where the hell are the parents for those characters? I don't think they're even in the movie at all. At least in the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise the parents play a vital role.
Because Of Subtext: The Asset/Charley (Shape Of Water). He's a fish-monster who has been isolated from the world and he cannot speak. His relationship with Elisa is one that proves that love is love no matter what race or species your partner is.
Because They're Hated: Dawn Bellwether (Zootopia). I never get the reason why this characters gets frowned at other than the whole being a twist antagonist thing and the whole assumption that she is either a psychopath or some kind of SJW or at the very worst compared to Trump or Hitler or Charles Manson or Bin Laden. The latter two a serial killer and a terrorist, Dawn is nothing like that. And she certainly isn't Trump-like either, because have you SEEN Trumpty? The man is a disaster. I think that deep down she really does realize what she did was wrong and I also feel there is something about her that nobody knows about, like having some kind of phobia of predators or having a traumatic experience in her childhood that made her become afraid of them.
Because They're Underrated: Megamind (Megamind). Even on the Deviantart forums when I talked about how underrated the movie is I was greeted with 'If I wanted superheroes, i'll stick with a REAL superhero movie like Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm', or...*impersonating the Cinema Snob* "Megamind? Pft. I'll stick with REAL superhero movies, thank you very much." How come Shrek and Bee Movie get the meme treatment and freaking Boss Baby gets his own Netflix series but Megamind gets no attention at all apart from a video game, books, a few figures, a fast food tie in, a comic, and one measly short film? I mean there is a huge fan following for this character not just on here but on sites like YouTube and Livejournal, this character needs more attention.
Because They Changed For The Better: Woody (Toy Story franchise) and Doug Ross (E.R). I am definitely willing to forgive Woody for the way he acted towards Buzz in the first movie...he was jealous and it was pretty much a case of sibling rivalry but in toy form and I know that he was used to being the favourite and wasn't used to sharing the spotlight with someone else, even though I initially said that I did not like Woody because of how he acted in the first movie, I can understand him now and i'm glad he's much better (besides...it could have been worse, he could have been like Black Friday Woody) and then there's Doug Ross. Doug Ross originally started off as a bit of a stereotype, he was a maverick of sorts and a womanizer who arrived into hospital in a drunken haze and handcuffed to a bed, but he matured into a more sympathetic and likable character as the series went on, to the point that in the episode 'Hell Or High Water' he rescues a drowning child.
Because I Can/Do/Always Will: Jerry Dandrige (Fright Night 1985 version).

(My favorite characters arrive)
Hannah: Hey, guys. Ever met my friends? When I first met them while I was in a graveyard, they got scared at first when they see me as a ghost, so I shook their hand and said "Hello."
