Description
Name: Dwarf bearBiological Name: Micrartos ramoscola (Small Bear that Dwells in the Branches)
Length: 1ft (30cm)
Habitat: forests and cloud forests
Diet: leaves, fruit, insects, bird eggs, small mammals
Classification Tremarctinae (spectacled bears and short faced bears)
Description: As a species of unknown bears (genetic analysis has shown dwarf bears are related to the spectacled bear as well as other extinct relatives, but the species it has evolved from still needs to be discovered) wandered into the Maple White Land, they may have been suffering from competition against most of the reptiles that have evolved and adapted in the "Lost World". As a result, they have spent most of their time climbing trees which led to the result of the dwarf bear. Dwarf bears have made several adaptations in order to thrive in the trees. Its teeth have been built for grinding vegetation but have large fangs for fending off would-be predators and other bears. Sharp skin-peeling claws are built for climbing trees and can sometimes be used for fighting other bears. Their muzzles have shortened as a result of less time smelling for prey because of their diet for vegetation, but its still handy for smelling insects, bird eggs, and other bears. Like the clouded leopard, dwarf bears have rotatable wrists and ankles that can make tree climbing more easy. Dwarf bears spend most of their time foraging for vegetation or sleeping for hours, only venturing on the ground to climb a different tree, find water, or do their number 2. Dwarf bears are solitary animals, only coming together to mate. They will find a mate for miles, relying on their nose to find one. Dwarf bears mark their territory by emitting glands on their rear ends as well as urinating. This will tell other bears that they are there and that is where I ate my food. Female dwarf bears have to find an abandoned burrow in order to give birth to 1 or 2 cubs and when they are 5 days old, they will cling onto their mother for dear life as she climbs on the trees. The bears leave their mother when they are 2 years old.
