The prairie-dwelling Whimpering Wingding had powers akin to that of the Dismal Sauger : it whimpered and mewled and cried, and any who heard it succumbed to potentially lethal sadness. Humans could get away with just becoming very sick and nauseous, but animals -- particularly coyotes -- died from hearing it. Whimpering Wingdings were also fast on their feet, and were used to control feral coyote populations, despite their danger to anything living. Wingdings were also always miserable and impossible to cheer up.

There is no actual description of this beast -- it's only mentions say it was like a Dismal Sauger in behavior, causing lethal sadness in anything that heard its cries. There is, however, something mentioned in an old newspaper article that sounds like it could be similar: a beast that was a cross between a cougar, wolf, and young buffalo, possibly with raptor talons/feet, and whose moans were said to sound like a human in terrible pain. It was also faster than a horse, able to leap tall fences easily, and was as agile as monkey. I went with that. Why not? :3 I also made its face mimic that of the Dismal Sauger and the Happy Auger, like it was related.
