The vector guidelines are based on famous commercial boards such as those sold by Stashmore and Prancin Fat Boy. Vertical gutter guidelines here, however, include marks for standard US size gutters and manga-style, which tend to have thinner vertical gutters.

Use Guttersnip from Mojo Tools to cut manga-style gutters. For mono-width US gutters, you can simply set any pen to erase. The special Panels layer uses Krita's layer styles to create a border around opaque white areas. To extend a panel beyond the LIVE area (the center guide) simply select the new area and fill with WHITE. To remove a panel altogether (for free-standing art, for instance) select the panel and CUT.

For best results, use Guttersnip with the line tool, but the freehand brush and dynamic brush tool may be used for creative effects, not to mention the ellipse tool, etc.

A few reminders about the use of the template are included in print at the bottom of the template (specifically, draw bleeding art to the outermost box; the dotted line within is the trim area).

The template opens on a blank layer for drawing. Adding ink and paint layers are up to you.

No forests were harmed to print this digital board. Unzip the file, open in Krita, and save as a template.
