Description Man in the Moon, can I ask you some questions?
I'll take your answers, as merely suggestions.

These are the opening lines to a poem I wrote when I was 14. It seems like a lifetime ago but it helps to illustrate the importance of the moon in my life.

When I was little, my mother used to read to me a book entitled 'Goodnight Moon', and it remains, to this day, my favorite book. I'm an only child so I live in my own imagination and when I was lonely or confused I would sit in the window and have conversations with the man in the moon and as I got older I came to realize the effect the phases of the moon had over me. My emotional, physical and spiritual being was transformed with the waxing and waning of each cycle and when I started with the Craft it all came together.

I don't have the proper equipment to effectively capture the moon in a way that I would deem fitting for such an important factor in my life. As such I've opted to pay tribute with this piece.

Carl Sandburg once said 'The moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk to' and that effectively captures it for me and perhaps helps to explain my attraction, devotion and sometimes obsession with it.

very subtle shading and melancholy mood help to set this one apart. it's a little bit indistinct in the bottom left corner... the solid black is a bit of a pit that traps the eyes. perhaps some cropping could eliminate a bit of it? overall nicely done though.

yeah I played with the cropping, and I imagine you're probably much better at it then I am but I couldn't make it work

the light comes from behind in this one, i think, and probably the best solution would be to try to get a little more light behind that lower left section to bring out a bit more detail in the shadows. then no cropping would be necessary.

The problem becomes that it's a wall sconce. so you're really limited with the lighting because nothing short of a candle is going to fit behind it. I messed with a few different candle sizes to see but it was a trick to try and not have the candlelight bleed through intensely in one part of the moon.. maybe more time is what I should have taken but it took quite a long time regardless.. I'll try again.

Oh, really loving the antique feel to this shot--it has to me the feeling of a fav of mine called Tssss...like a sneak by puncin...the colors, yes, but also the careful delicacy, the weightiness coupled with lilting lightness. Really nice one, danie, elegantly done!

I fully understand and resonate with the importance of the moon in your life...I've always been fascinated and felt that magnetic attraction to the moon and the shifting phases/faces of her, myself--my favored nickname as a child was "moondrop" (moon with the "drop" of a star)....can't tell you how much poetry she inspired!

I adore these fascinating insights into your life - and explanation of your username as well. I like the way that the stars surround the moon in this image, numerous but dark enough not to distract, instead providing a framework. It is a calm glow that surrounds the moon, an almost hazy appearance and well depicted.

You are quite welcome, my friend. I used to sit up and watch as little black bats flew around outside my window and daydream about the days I would be on my own to play about in the night as well... we all have our things.
