Description My grandmother is a survivor of many things, the most recent being breast cancer. She was always full of life, beautiful and a woman to be reckoned with but her battle with cancer seemed to snuff some of that joie de vive and part of her was lost. This picture was taken at an event following her last batch of radiation treatments. I had been watching her all day and suddenly she burst into uncontrollable laughter and I had to grab my camera. I showed this to her later to remind her of who she is inside, regardless of what happened on the outside and she was very touched. On an important side note, I really liked this photo because you can see how protective my grandfather is.

Please note that my grandmother passed away on April 13, 2007

I added this to my favorites list as a reminder to myself that no matter what life throws at you laughter makes you feel lighter. She looks like she was an amazing and strong woman. You were so blessed to have someone like her in your life. Thank you for sharing this wonderful and touching moment with everyone.

Well, there's always gotta be a few bad comments, eh? That "this is not a beautiful technical shot" Dev and ... ? Sarcasm? What? That's a horrible thing to have said.

But I love this shot, the passion and love that just emanates from this photograph, and I must say that your grandmother looks absolutely beautiful in this, she was made for laughing. Hehe. And it's clear to see just how much she means to your grandfather.

I won't do the whole 'tell her to keep on fighting' thing, but I will give you all my best wishes. I don't know you, nor your family, but this shot describes some of it.

I read all the comments so I know your grandmother passed earlier this year, but I didn't word it very well, I apologise lol.

Your grandmother passed on my 18th Birthday.. If I'd've known you back then I would've given you a dev hug. -_-

i love this
my mother is a breast cancer survivor, and i know how much the treatments can eat away at a persons body and soul
but i think it's just amazing how strong people can be, and how even through such a dark disease, they can find reason to smile

i wish your grandmother luck through all of her treatments

The picture is incredibly heartwarming, but the artist's comment got me a little teary-eyed. It's such a wonderful thing to see, a person laughing with their whole heart. It truly is the best medicine. This is truly an exquisite shot; it's beautiful... and so apropriately titled. <3

This is a moment you can keep in your heart forever. Being able to catch such a moment on film is priceless. You could never plan such a gift. Her spirit is shining through her smile in a time of great adversity. What strength they seem to both have. I know myself as well as many others have been witness to such moments with loved ones and not had the forethought to capture it for eternity

I am revisiting this image.
To remind myself of the joy that your grandmother felt in that moment.
To remind myself that she brightened your life greatly and deserves the fondest of memories to carry her strength and spirit on to wherever it is we go when we pass on.

But mostly.
To tell you that I am here. And I adore all that you do - you inspire people the same way your grandmother inspired you. Never ever forget that Danie. You are so blessed and loved. A sure sign that you are doing right in the world
Blessings, comfort and love to your family.

I lost my grandmother to brest-bone cancer..I was only one at the time so i never knew her. In fact my parents had to sneak me into her room just so that she could see me.
Thank you for sharing this.

I wish her and your family the best.

This picture and the description actually brought tears to my eyes. What a strong woman your grandmother is. This has so much more meaning because it wasn't taken necessarily for artistic purposes, but to capture the strength of the human spirit. Applause to you and your grandmother.

Wow, this is a wonderful spontaneous shot and shows true emotion and warms me to the core.

Both my mother and my grandmother struggled through breast cancer but they both made it, so I can really empathise with this photograph.

Spectacular job
