Description My grandmother is a survivor of many things, the most recent being breast cancer. She was always full of life, beautiful and a woman to be reckoned with but her battle with cancer seemed to snuff some of that joie de vive and part of her was lost. This picture was taken at an event following her last batch of radiation treatments. I had been watching her all day and suddenly she burst into uncontrollable laughter and I had to grab my camera. I showed this to her later to remind her of who she is inside, regardless of what happened on the outside and she was very touched. On an important side note, I really liked this photo because you can see how protective my grandfather is.

Please note that my grandmother passed away on April 13, 2007

This is a beautiful shot technically...Which is wonderful for the viewer because it allows the tender~ very emotive evocations inherit in this capture to be freed completely...The most resonant and lovely forthright "element" of this photograph(to me) is the richly subtle, comsummate humanity made available to the viewer...There is so much going on here- an obvious history of emotional ties, joy, courage, trust, pride, loyalty, the unknown and the acceptance of that....etc...Really a rich tapestry, complex and "challenging" to take in~ though a joy to do so...Both the love between these two and the photographer's love for both them is very elegantly evident...Making this a satisfyingly emapthic shot, a complete circle~ with arms open to let "us" in, as well...I really enjoyed this very much. Thank you for your work here

You're VERY WELCOME, Love...Honestly~ I was just so grateful to have such a priveledged view of such time-honored love...It is a JOY to me , I am very happy to have it amongst my favorites...Beautiful work, very rare to come across an image so powerfully unsensationalized...Very positive, evocative and humbling...Good to be reminded of the core of our humanity amidst the artifice...I'm gushing~ I should stop, sorry...Really~THANK YOU VERY MUCH: your photo is the truest lovliest work I've seen in a long while Toodles

So much for being "emotionally frigid" - that's the most touching thing that I've seen/read all day.
