In the end there's always that one friend who outlived all their other friends, and was too old to make new ones, and thus spent their last years with only strangers who didn't care... which makes family very important.

Uh.... hate to rain on your head canon, but Twilight is a 'created alicorn' like Cadence, and not a 'born alicorn' like the sisters. According to Hasbro and their canon books, that makes her and Cadence mortal.

Who says Alicorns are born with wings and horn? Twilight was born as alicorn without wings and the wings appeared later. The same Cadance.
It's natural camouflage so they can't be found by enemies when they are too young.

(o_e) headcanon... so bad... But seriously, it is clearly stated in the books that Cadence was not born an Alicorn. Cadence was born a pegasus and later was made into an alicorn. Hasbro has stated that these books are canon and Faust has confirmed it. So there are two types of Alicorns, 'born' and 'created'. Born alicorns have incredibly long lifespans, while created alicorns have mortal lifespans. Furthermore, if Cadence or Twilight were to have children, they would not be alicorns (if I remember correctly, I'm a little fuzzy on that one)

And yet I depicted her friends as also being immortal, without being alicorns at all. I wonder what could have happened to change them?
And since they've already said twilight won't outlive her friends, that either means she dies first, or they all live forever.

Their wording was that she won't outlive her friends. After the little display of magic with the box at the end of season 4, I think her friends now stand a chance to be immortal, which means she won't outlive them.

I would like to recommend having a complete table-of-contents list of links on your comics instead of just previous/next links. It would allow for faster and more versatile navigation.

You could argue that a person you met once at a concert is effectively dead to you if you never meet again, the only difference is how long you spent with them, and to an immortal a single lifetime isn't much time at all.
The first ones to go hit the hardest, however.
