Description
A tutorial I made by request of how I make my synthetic dreads with yarn. This is one of the ways... the less realistic looking way, but how it is done in my photos.
Cheap to say the least. Which is nice. <3
TIPS:
After wrapping the dread a bit, make sure to shove the yarn upwards (if that makes sense) to condense the work as you go. If you do not it will become very loose as you tie it or you will be forced to tighten at the end and it will be much shorter than you anticipated.
If you are going to sew them in your hair adn wear them in the shower then it would be best to set them with a glue that is not water soluble.
If you plan on putting them onto a dread fall, it may do good to make the dread right onto the fall. Saves time.
Uhm, I think that's everything. If you have any questions simply leave a comment.

Does it matter what kind of yarn one were to use (ie cotton, wool, acrylic, et cetera)?

For the most pert I think not. There are certain types of yarn like that hairy thin thread like kind (I hope that made sense) that might actually not do as well unless they are used as accents. For my own purposes I try to find something dense that would withstand a bit of pulling and possible washing. For something that someone might put in their hair and leave in for several days with showering involved it might be better not to use wool, but for everything else it is fine.
My advise, work with what you have and try different things out. I'm sure the answer would not be the same fro everyone.
