People have been asking if Beast have been cleaning up his appearance for Belle’s sake lately, And now it’s canon. I am going to miss drawing him all scruffy. I was just getting a grip on how to do that satisfactorily. Oh well!
Belle is staying in the Bête household while her father is on business trips. He is often on business trips... or possible lost on business trips
Edit! I changed the size of the text a little so people would read it more like I had intended it to be read.
Some were just harping on Belle for being rude to Beast, when He was meant to be the one rude to Mrs Pots to begin with.
And what would Belle care about looks? Honestly people? She admits he looks nicer now but, she is Belle for crying out load. Personality all the way.

Well, she did call him handsome... So, can we try to see this as a tsundere way of saying "yeah, you look nice"? XD
I also liked him better when he was scruffy, but to be fair, I always liked the Beast's human looks in the movie too (I get that some people don't like it).
Aww, Mrs. Potts!!! I can imagine her as a governess or something. She probably knows him since little (perhaps his parents are always away as well or just don't care very much for their son). At least it's the impression I have... I may be completely wrong of course, it's just some of the interpretations I have of this AU.
Well... A part of me thinks Belle is being a little harsh here but, well, that depends of his tone and the way he was talking to Mrs. Potts too. I imagine it wasn't the "aw, how cute he is embarrassed" tone, but his usual rude tone, which does make a huge difference.
And another part thinks it is also because their relationship has been like this for so long that it has become a reflex: He will say something, she will give a little reply such as this. It's not in mean spirit or anything as such, it's just the comfortable ground she is used to (perhaps even more since the comic where she realized there may be another side of him she has never saw. Who knows, many people may get uncomfortable or even scared when this happen).
I'm still anxious to see Gaston trying to make a move on her, just to see him being crushed. And like I mentioned, for me it makes sense that afterwards he will be even more after her (following his behavior in the movie), since his ego can somewhat deal with being turned down by "ice queens and spoiled princess", but not a "nerd" who should be grateful. And even more when he sees that Belle still prefers a "delinquent" (not saying Adam is, but it may be the impression he gives to others at school) than a "handsome jock".

One of the things I love about your comics is the development of the characters. It is really amazing.
Well, he has to do more. It isn't a matter of looks, it is a matter of his attitude. Being nice to her while being an ass to others? Nope, doesn't work (unless with someone who is really selfish, I guess).
I did. I get that a lot of people didn't (like the producers said, they fell in love with the Beast, not Adam), but I actually think he is one of the best-looking Disney Princes. *Shrug* Hey, we all have our tastes...
But to be fair, this is one of the "normal" tasted I have (to give you an example: I'm the sucker for villain/heroine shippings and boy, do I have some weird ones at times...).
I always had the theory that she was the governess and Lumiere was his tutor (considering he is a prince and seemed to be a child at the time of the curse, he probably had one). Hey, feel free to use it if you want. Honestly, I'm the kind that can spend hours talking and analyzing characters and their developments and psyches and pretty much everything I can (It sounds weird, I know, but I love it!), so if you you want to talk about anything, I'm always here.
It is what I thought, like I said, tone is everything. The way you say things is always important, for it changes the interpretation (so I had assumed he hadn't said in the "cute, embarrassed" way if it caused this reaction on Belle). It may take a time until Belle also sees his efforts into changing, as she is used to his rude ways. They have a long way to go.
I'm so anxious for the show (cofcofVanessagettingherkarmacofcof. On a note, I always imagined a human version of Ursula being her aunt or something -> Unrelated note). I also wonder if Rapunzel will ever realize she is not Gothel's daughter... Ughhh, so anxious! So addicted to your comics! Aaaah!

Yeah, it's more realistic like this and also helps the feeling of time passing in the story. One thing that happens in stories like that is that when you look back you realize how much the characters have grown, learned and changed and accompanying this change is part of the story. She is really investing in this, and the effort shows.
