I want it to be so!I have such a soft heart, and it’s so sad that these two grew up all alone. And their single parents would be perfect for one and other…apart from Frollo’s tendency to burn witches on the cross and Gothel enjoying magic… Other than that! they are perfect…
Prequel
So I put them in a realer world.
Where Frollo can be a judge who adopted his late house-keepers child out of guilt. You can decide which kind. You can have as dark or light imagination as you please…
Gothel most likely stole a child and is passing it of as her own. She works as a beautician and frequents plastic surgeons.
Both children are home-schooled and have severe curfews, but they have each-other.

Your latest installment was super awesome and inspired me to re-read these. And I just realized what you meant by "adopted his late house-keepers child out of guilt, you can decide which kind." OMG so squicky. I wouldn't put it past Frollo to rape his housekeeper, but just...omg. Squick.
Edit: he probably killed her, too. To keep her from talking. Because she was going to file a police report on him and get a paternity test for Quasi to prove the abuse taking place.
OMG THIS IS SO CREEPY. I thought Disney really overdid Frollo's creepiness in the adaptation, but this is 10X worse. RAPUNZEL, GET OUT OF THERE RIGHT NOW. I'll let you move into my apartment while we get your custody situation straightened out. GET AWAY FROM YOUR STEPDAD NOW.

Probably not. Frollo only took in Quasimodo because he killed his mother and Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel to stay young forever, so yeah, they're too evil for that.

(That such a terrible parent stole a child from parents who almost CERTAINLY would have been better, fills me with a particular kind of rage... Gothel, I'm referring to, Frollo's bad however whether his adoption can be considered a theft appears to be left up to individual interpretation so far.)

Hell has a special pit for Child-nappers. Few who nap a kid dosn't deserve total annihilation.
Frollo is dark chrater, as an adaptation he gets even darker. Making him and his actions "real" and whith teens, instead of long a go, with grown ups...it goes super dark, real fast. I didn't think this though dark..

(Indeed. Total annihilation sounds fitting... And noted... because yeah, it gets very dark when you think 'he murdered his housekeeper' for one reason or another... and then adopted the child to repent for the action... and then was a terrible parent.)

wow! rereading this series and i can believe how much less (COUGH grammar) stiff the characters are now compared to this comic. still better than anything i can do (yes i know, practice) but im just saying its different oof

My theories for why Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel:
1. Gothel wanted a daughter because Ursula had one and she kidnapped the first baby girl she saw. It’s worth noting that the roots for this theory took form when I saw that photo of Gothel coming in second to Ursula back when they were young in the most recent chapter of DHS. It’s also been suggested that the rivalry has continued en force since then.
2. Gothel met Rapunzel’s father in college and fell completely in love with him. She wound up competing for his affections with Rapunzel’s mother and lost. The rejection set off her vengeful nature and she kidnapped Rapunzel both to get back at the two of them and because Rapunzel represented the life she felt she deserved.

My theory as to how Frollo came to adopt Quasimodo:
Quasi’s parents emigrate to Auradon with his paternal uncle to seek medical care for his condition. (I include an uncle because in the movie I assumed that’s who the two Gypsy men with Quasi’s mother were). Eventually Quasi’s mother manages to get a job as a housekeeper for Judge Claude Frollo. Despite his strict religious devotion, the judge finds himself attracted to her as he is to Esmeralda in the movie. Sometime later he finds out his housekeeper and her family are illegal emigrants and tries to use it as leverage over her to elicit what he wants from her. She refuses. One thing leads to another, there’s a scuffle, and Quasi’s mother ends up dead after a fall/push down the stairs. Whether or not that possible push was accidental or not can be left to the imagination of the individual.
Fearing the consequences of his actions, Frollo somehow manages to frame Quasi’s father and uncle to take the blame for her death and they are arrested . Soon after this, Frollo admits his involvement to his local priest during Confession and the clergyman manages to guilt him into adopting his late housekeeper’s deformed child and raising him as his own to atone for what he’s done despite the judge’s evident disgust for the baby’s looks and the rest is history.
Quasi’s father and uncle die in a prison riot a few years later but Frollo keeps this information from Quasimodo himself. All Quasi knows about the world event is that his mom died and his father was out of picture.

Well, I admit it is rather dark. But I’m just following the vibes from the HOND movie.
I just assumed that Quasi’s father and possible uncle died in prison here because I assumed that’s what happened to them in the movie. I mean, we never hear from them again after watching them being dragged off to jail by Frollo’s men at the beginning of the movie.
As for my theory concerning Quasi’s mother... well I was just going with the idea that Frollo is attracted to a certain type of woman, a type that she could easily fit.
I also drummed up the Archbishop’s involvement because, in the movie, it took an outside religious influence to convince Frollo- whom up til that moment seemed to have no qualms about drowning an innocent baby in a well just because he thought it was ugly- of the guilt of his role in Quasi’s mother’s death (which was VERY direct BTW).
