Description
(sighs) "MUST you while I'm plotting..?"Mr. Smee snags a little peck from a begrudging Hook while he cleans. ^-^
It seems to me that these two being a couple is the only reason Hook hasn't killed Smee for all the bungling he's done, while he'll kill a man for singing or bumping his chair. As for WHY he likes Smee...who can say? I'm not doubting the man's taste, because Smee is adorable, but again I refer to the bungling...

Yes, yes I did! How they tried to say the toys were recalled due to "safety issues" when Disney just didn't want to be associated with them? I hate the kinds of Christians like at that place. I mean, I hate all pushy intolerant folks, but when it's attached to a group name you're just dragging all the good members down with you. Well, it's nice to know Disney's opening its mind, at least.

-nods- yes, that's true. And the PM in my country is trying to make gay marrage legal so that's good too.
Yeah, I hate closed-minded people about as much as I hate people who lie (esspecially for no good reason, not the ones who do who actually have a validly good reason to lie) I don't understand how people can hate someone just for being different. (then again, I have a black father, I'm gay and retarded, and my sister's better than many guys at certain things, not to mention my whole family are half-breeds, so I guess I sorta have good reason to hate close-minded people XD XD)
Coincidently I'm Christian but I live by two things (at least I try to) "Don't force others to like/say/do/believe what you do because everyone's different and they have as much right to an opinion as you" and "Why would God hate a good person just for being different but not hate someone for treating a good person badly"

That's very good. Especially if it's for the whole country.
Oh yes, that's my other pet peeve, also. I see no reason to lie about anything unless it's to protect someone. Most things can be solved quite readily with good old fashioned honesty. As for me, I'm just a socially awkward, nerdy bi girl whose grown up surrounded by small-minded bumpkins who think the world revolves around them. My family's full of people who are always interested in things different from themselves, exploring new places, meeting new types of people, etc. So when I entered school I found my peers pretty intolerant, and also intolerable.
I've never been religious, but I basically have the same morals and I don't care what anyone's faith is so long as they don't try to force it on anyone, like you said. It's the ones that try to use their holy scriptures as a weapon that irk me, and it makes me feel bad for the ones who are honestly good people, being given a bad reputation.

Well, I call myself bi, because there are one or two types of people I'm not attracted to, and everyone understands it, but honestly, I'd fall in love with a tree if I liked its personality enough. I've already fallen completely for a girl who wasn't my "type". Buuut that story didn't have a happy ending anyway. (I'll bet it's not. lol)

Right. They have it so easy; just make some noise and get whatever they want, plus get away with murder. Why do humans feel the need to "own" other animals anyway, eh? Or hey, I once had a snake that turned one of the crickets he was supposed to eat into a pet. It's a strange process, petdom. What the hey?
Yes, that is lucky. I've had plenty of experience with not being understood. But gee, I think normal must be easy to be, if so many people are. Striving to be so as to blend in, however? THAT must be difficult.

I'm completely weird, and I've taken the title as complimentary since day one. = ) I was saying if most people are normal, it must be easy to be if you are one of the bazillion normals. As for being used to it, that only applies to family members or people who are around you all the time. I've never seen strangers get used to it, and my classmates never got used to me in all of 13 years. Weird shall always be weird, unfortunately.

Oh wow, you actually want my rant? I've taken to summing because no one wants to actually review movies they just watched.
Well, I didn't find ANY of the characters particularly enjoyable; Jonathan was the closest, but he wasn't really given a chance to shine on his own. The presentation was completely rapid-fire with shots never lasting more than 5 seconds; however it's probably because of that that I didn't end up bored; no chance to settle in so I didn't miss something important.
I don't believe in insta-love and I'm sick of hearing the same love story over and over again. Though there was practically no conflict, even WITH Drac opposing Mavis' relationship. Drac's random roaring seemed more like a spasm than anything, because it was interjected quite harshly and unfittingly into the moments. I wonder how the people would've reacted to the monsters if it was any day BUT a monster festival, too.
Drac shoulda been toast, Jonathan never brought up his supposedly-beloved backpack again, and don't they realize that Mavis will LONG outlive him anyway?! For that matter, a lot of those monsters wouldn't live so long either, or even be monsters. Despite probably being the most likeable, the invisible man is NOT a monster, he's a tragic figure. And what the heck was up with Quasimodo? He's not even supposed to be evil and suddenly he's the bad guy.
Lastly, the actors' performances all sounded like exactly what they were: ratings-rakers. "Oh, a celebrity's in a family film, let's go see it!" Not very many live action actors can pull voice acting off, and there wasn't a whole lot of talent depicted (though David Spade HAS already proven himself as Kuzco, which probably contributes to the invisible man being most enjoyable).
Still, it was good enough to keep me invested, the soundtrack was pretty good and DID have its moments. The old lady who ate everything was cute. "He let me EAT his SCOOTER!" XD

Strudel--Cutie4427 In reply to MortalAnonymous [2012-10-11 19:37:51 +0000 UTC]
Ah, fair enough. (And to be fair the invisible man's as much of a monster as say frenkenstein or the Hulk. All three played with science and got screwed over... Okay, Frank's CREATER screwed with science but you get my point. But that's just my POV) Don't think I'm trying to defend the movie even if it sounds like it, I'm just giving my opinion and even though you won't agree with everything I respect your opinion so please respect mine
I liked a lot of the characters, but I'm easily entertained so that was inevitable.
I think that was so they got as many characters in as possible in the beginning, I personally liked the start because it was so fast and there was so much you see something new everytime you see it. (Or at least I did)
Yeah, the "Zing" was a little over-done and the monster's reaction to it I guess was a little, idk, over-the-top. My guess for that was the creater needed a reason for the monsters to help. That said I like the term "zing".
Yeah, I noted that too, not much conflict in the movie. The random roaring was a little weird in some parts but idk, I think it was just there for a shock-laugh reaction. But I thought it fitted well in the parts when someone tried to make his Mavis grow up - typical father there XD And why didn't HE scare the people or use his hypnotism at the start, rather than the fire bad part (but I still liked the fire bad part, I was wondering why they kept going on about it)
yeah, I wondered the same thing. Although if it wasn't I think they'd have a clear run to the airport.
YES! I KNOW! WHY DID HE NOT DIE!? (Not that he should, and why was Mavis's window open anyway?) The only excuse I could come up with was his bat form saved him, but even I thought that was unusual.
He did I think once more. But even if I loved my backpack I think it'd be the last thing on my mind with all the going ons.
I assume they're going to turn him, but yes I agree with that.
They took all the monster movies (jeckle and hide were in there too) and put them all into this movie. because The Invisible Man WAS considered a monster (he was chased by angry mobs and he was a monster movie) I think they put him there and I think that was better than having the typical 3-monster mains (drac, wolfy and frank) i'm glad they added Murrey and Griffon in. That's one thing I did think was cool, they thought ooutside the box.
IKR! Quasi seemed out of character (but I liked Esmeralda XD) and how was he unable to get out of his predicament while Johnny was!? BUT I'm glad they had him (though they still could've picked idk, an Igor as the bad guy or something) That's one thing about this movie, it actually had characters other movies forgot.
Speaking of Igor, there was only one in the movie! Why were there no more? Thralls are more classed as a monster than some of the others.
I thought Adam Sandler did a pretty good job but that was just me.
(THANK YOU~! I've been trying to remember where I heard David before!) Actually, is it just me or can the invisible man see himself? I seriously think he may be able to, considering all those scenes ("I have red curly hair" "It was cold and i just got out of the pool, don't judge me" -shaves face and powders butt-) And speaking of which, you'd think the humans saw a pair of glasses walking around with the others, don't you?
XD Yeah, and the fly and the zombies had their moments. "uh-uh-uh-uhhh" (and zombie plumber) It was smart using the suits of armour, zombies and witches as staff. (again, unusual monsters, deffinately something this movie did right) AND the Twilight ref was tastefully done. But I think ending the movie with a song (though appropriately placed) was kinda IDK, old-hat. I mean, Shark Tale, Megamind, Alvin and the Chipmonks and now this. (coincidently, I just named all my fave movies XD Hmm, maybe they are onto something XD)

I guess, but the man's still...a man. Nothing large, freakish or monstery about him other than that he's invisible. And of course I respect your opinion! Why wouldn't I?
I see; well for me it felt like they were trying to cram too much in. It wasn't just the start; the whole FILM was rapid-fire and full of glimpse cameos.
That's another thing: I don't understand how the monsters were rallied from complete and total fear to being 100% on-board in a single not-so-great speech. It was a total flip-flop, too fast. That said, yeah, I also kinda like the word "zing". It is fitting.
I know it's SUPPOSED to be that, but it really does feel like it's just a spasm he has. And yeah, or even despite grossness, he could let Jonathan get his contacts out and do it again. Duh. Drac made everything way too complicated for himself.
Wouldn't a bat fry quicker? It's so small. With all that dust flying off of him, he should've been poof! Insta-crisp. And then he heals from his sunburn in an instant. Oy. I mean of course they shouldn't kill him, but it really makes sense that he shoulda!
It was insinuated that he loved it like a person almost. I was expecting it to come up again. = /
They were ALL the cliche monsters. I've seen the invisible man used just as much as the others. If they wanted to be different, they should've included wasp woman or a giant ant from Them or something. Even The Fly would do, if messed up science is allowed. That part felt very in-box to me.
The rat was cute. =3 You're so right; they shoulda used Igor! Same build and everything, plus they still coulda used a rat. As for how Jonathan got out of it, maybe it's supposed to be some cheesy "power of will" thing. I dunno; I blame plotholes.
Nah, Sandler was fine, he just isn't great. He sounds so whiny and delivers every line the same way. And for David Spade, you're welcome. XP
I think he's supposed to remember from when he was visible. But you're right; after the car trip he just kinda...disappeared, but not in a good way. There, see? He's even overlooked in-film as a monster.
The zombies were cute at times, and that giant fly was amusing. I dunno, the movie just didn't take any risks over-all. Ending on a song actually made sense for this one, though. Birthday concert was the original plan, after all. No offense, but I hate all 3 movies you listed. Megamind might be redeemable because of Bernard, but they get a pass because music was a theme of their stories as well. Except Shark Tale, that one just sucked all-out. But hey, I guess songs are just easy?

Actually, I just finished reading the original Invisible Man story and he certainly became a monster by the end of it. (I think I've seen way too many ciminology shows, I personally thought everything he did made sence, to me at least) Basically, he tried to go on a kiling spree... and People tend to get the wrong idea if I try to give my opinion, that's why.
I noticed that too. I honestly spent nearly the whole movie just waiting to see the Phantom of the Opera, who btw ever showed up, not that I saw anyway.
I thought that was a little unusual. Maybe a zing is that important in their world?
Yeah, if it happened much more often I'd worry he had terrets (or however you spell it) It's the grosseness thing, people can't look away. Believe me, I know. I've seen people freak out over something my sister would do (like touch her eye or move her arm in a funny way) and try to stop her, rather than just looking away. So I can understand his responce to the contacts scene... I did wonder however when Johnny got that one back in his eye properly.
I think it's the fur and the smallness that meant less sun on his skin. That said I still agree. It'd make more sence if his friends found him and took him back home almost dead. I very nearly made a fanfic of that scene my way.
I haven't. What other movies/shows did he cameo in, out of curiosity? The fly was there, sort of. At least I assume that's who the fly who understood Quasi was. (even though he loked like neither versions of him) Wasp Woman and Giant Ant? I haven't heard of those two.
And she totally kicked butt. She was more like Esme than Quasi was like himself. I assume Igor was the guy at the start when Drac was building the hotel, but still, why make Quasi the villian? Frollo would make more sence, any monster would make more sence, even if they used Erik (phantom). Actually, thinking about how easy he got out, maybe it was another up side to his contacts?
You have a really good point there. It did seem a little flat.
Wasn't he the drummer in the end song?
I agree, they really could've done more with the storyline. Not saying I could do better, but it wasn't as good as it could've been. (that said, it IS a children's movie. Maybe they weren't eXpecting people to notice? Sorry, my small X button isn't working) Actually, you have a really good point, the concert was planned. Not offended in the least, I tend to like things people either haven't heard of or disslike (take Starkid or TUFF Puppy for eXample) I'm personally a fan of Minion, in my opinion he was actually a pretty good character (murder to draw however DX) Maybe I just realy liked Shark Tale because I like the thin reference to the gay/vego theme. (I was playing the game and actually heard 1 of the sharks legit calling him gay "I heard he's -mumble- gay -mumble mumble-") As for Alvin, I've been a fan of him all the way back before Alvin Meets The Wolfman. (I was a fan of the Smurfs too, and ALF... But that's cos my cousins were 80s babes and I always used to stay a their place. I also used to like MLP before bronys were cool but after they ruined my fave I hate them now.... Oops, off-subject, sorry) However, they were suposed to be kids, not teens. I don't like how they're in high school and yet Dave treats them like they're only in elementary school. Either pick one or the other, people!

I'll admit it's been a while since I read the book, but I recall being nothing but sad for him. I remember something like him going mad out of desperation. Ah, well, with me no worries; I love to debate and I never lash out at someone just for having different ideas. That's just silly (but I do understand; I've gotten similar reactions).
I don't know if he did or not; I wasn't on the lookout of anyone specific. And as for "zing" I think the writers just wanted to start a catchphrase. Honestly, it does work (she admitted grudgingly).
Tourette's. Even if it's gross, it'd still make more sense to just let him take 'em out. Or heck, use them precision powers to make Jonathan take 'em out well. Smack him in the back of the head. Something! Anyway, Jonathan got it back in by A Wizard Did It.
A tiny bat woulda gone poof! Instantly. Did you SEE how much dust was peelin' off of him?? And then he gets better in a single cut of the camera. I don't think being a vampire in that world is much of an inconvenience at all, actually. Sunscreen and you're good.
He's had 10 billion films made about him, starting in 1933, at least 2 TV shows, and even some comics. I can't think of a cartoon in particular (other than his own) that he's appeared in, but if I grew up knowing him, he must've been in a few. He even was in an Abbott and Costello picture.
Yeah, I thought that was just a giant fly. And yeah, exactly. Cult classic monsters that no one would be expecting. A clip from "Them!" can be seen in Lilo&Stitch, though, so it's not THAT cult-y.
Not really; she was a gossipy rodent trying to get others in trouble. But whatever. And of course Frollo's a villain, but HE'S not "grotesque". Only ugly people can be monsters, don't ya know? *heavy sarcasm* I dunno, contacts, main character powers, whatever.
No idea, but if so he wasn't used then; his role was over. But another issue I have with him is how he's seemingly got an immortal lifespan like the rest of them. Actually, most of the monsters shouldn't have immortal lifespans. Why have they all been around for hundreds of years?!
Yeah, and that's why I say it's worth a watch but nothing special. It was a standardly cliche love flick with kooky kid-friendly monsters painted over it. Meh.
I have tastes very different from most as well, but with those I just...eh. *shrug* Modern stuff is not my thing very often. I rarely like anything put out past the mid 00s. Minion's good, and I always like David Cross, but he sure makes it hard to choose a ship. = P Maybe I missed stuff when I watched Shark Tale (saw it years ago), but I'm not playing the game for one little blurb. Also for Alvin, I like him up to the 80s. The Alvin Show was good, and the 80s cartoon was still ok for an update, but I draw the line at pandering for the lowest common denominator and using fail-CGI on a terrible attempt to transition mediums (David Cross still being good). Again. Garfield, Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, The Fairly Oddparents, Ben 10...these things don't work in live action, Hollywood!! Stop trying! I don't like the corny product-pushing 80s shows, despite how excited I was to watch them as a kid. I like some for the camp value, but not many. I DO like the new MLP, but I'm not a superfan. I also have nothing against bronies.
...The Chipmunks are in high school?

I understood his actions (although he didn't have to start on a killing spree, but I can agree after he was betrayed by someone he thought he could trust) If it wasn't for the fact his prof was trying to force it out of him he may have ended up with a happier life... That said it would've been a more boring story. The fan conundrum I guess
True that, for both those. Although Zing sort of makes me think of Zinger Burger lol
Thanks. I know what you mean. Drac only made it harder for himself, such is the wa of movies I guess.
I know! I still can't figure out how the creaters never saw problems with that!
Heh, I think I heard of him first on DA like three months ago in a monster picture. But I have heard he was in a series and a movie (and I'm making a series with a character based on him, but it's a monster series and I had to get rid of the Mummy after he became the Zombie's father. Long story with that)
They should've used Frank'nFurter (Sorry, I'm listening to Rocky Horror and that was my first thought)
Actually, thinking of it like that, you have a pretty good point. I know! Apart from like Drac and Wolfie all monsters are usually ugly mofos. It actually really annoys me.
Again, children's movies. Most of them are also supposed to be dead after their books... Maybe they all happened to be born in the last 20-40 years? Idk.
True.
Lol, I know what you mean. And he's actually a pretty good actor... I actually played the game for the dancing. It was like a finger ddr (well, somewhat XD) I know what you mean. But I guess I'm addicted to a french-accented MGG (Chipwrecked) That said, I perfer the 80s version.
I KNOW! Why do they keep making live actions! (though they weren't the first live action Scooby film) I actually liked seeing what they FOP voice actors looked like but overall the movie's only really good for listening to (and making Crocker gay XD) in live action it's just a little corny and kinda reminds me of Japanese anime trying to go live action. I mean, there's just some things you shouldn't make live action and shows like that are one of them. (Lucky for us they haven't done that to Tom and Jerry yet)
I never watched FiM but I did like looking at pics and hearing brony songs but after they changed my fave character I've had a thing against the show. I keep trying to pretend to myself Lickity Split is a transexual - it's the only way I can even accept she was in the show at all. And she was a main character in the original movie's subplot.
Yeah, in the second movie they were in high school. It just kinda ruined it for me, and also the fact the girls are Dave's "Kids" too, making them seem kinda insest-y.

Haha, well, it seems like people went mad rather easily in those days...all the old stories have SOMEone going crazy.
Heh. I don't know what a Zinger Burger is.
I guess that's true. But it seemed like maybe if he hadn't been his own worst obstacle, they could've wrapped up the film in the length of your average Tartakovski cartoon.
lol Ok. I did remember a comic he's in. Little Gloomy (which is awesome, by the way).
lol That would've been cool. I love Dr. Frank. = P
It annoys me too. It's like a rule that guy monsters are all hideous, but the girls have permission to be hot. Wha? How's that fair?
Yeah, kid's movies, I know. It just bothers me that Drac said this stuff has been going on for hundreds of years, and yet he knows monsters with very short lifespans. Whatever, I can let that one go.
I'm MUCH better at finger DDR than regular DDR. = P And yes, 80s Chipmunks are better than the 00s version any day.
lol Well Darran Norris is the only one who looks like his character (because they based Dad off of him). I'd have preferred sticking to seeing them in interviews and whatnot. Though I will agree that Crocker's gay bits were my favorite. They were much like his gay bits on the show. ^-^ And totally, that was my exact point. Some things really don't make the jump well.
Lickity Split? Who did that become? I know Rainbow Dash is based heavily off of Firefly...
If the first one hadn't already ruined it for me, that definitely would've done it for me, too. No way they're in high school; they never have been! As for the Chipettes, they've always been incest-y. I mean, they're the only other mutant chipmunk kids around. It's like Stitch being in love with his cousin Angel.

Yeah, but it does make for an interesting story.
Spicy Burger, never tried it, don't like spicy stuff... or KFC lol
Little Gloomy? Really?? I HAVE to find that now! (I had a few of the comics in my old K-Zone books and that used to be one of my ABSOLUTE FAVES... Or was it Disney? Or adventures... Who knows)
The uncut Adult Monster Hotel version, staring Dr Frank n Furter XD
Yes! It also isn't good for special needs people (like Down's Syndrome and the like)
The age, lack of vampire-sun-allergies, and Quasi the Evil are the three things that annoy me over that. (Though admittedly the age thing is the least worrying, considering it's been done often... Though it still annoys me)
XD You and me both... On both things.
I figured as much... Heheh, you know that's one of the main reasons he doesn't have a girlfriend yet X3 He's so gay.
Lickity Split was still Lickity. They just made her brown... and a guy. So I can only have Lickity/Spike gayness now (though I'm not sure if I'm complaining or not about that part of it yet)
Yeah, out of the three, the second is the one I like the least. The third is the best of the three (I mean, c'mon - French MGG, who's gonna say no to that??) and I do like how they've made them chipmunk sized, but other than really that, I think they should've left well enough alone. Yeah, I noticed that too. How on earth did Disney get away ith Drag Queens and Incest on Lilo and Stitch? I suppose hat proves that if you mke something non-human you can get awy with a lot. (Take Buzz Lightyear of Star Command for example. If you ever see Wirewolf, turn all robots human and realize how much more gory it becomes XD)
