Description
Inky had only just heard what had happened, and he came rushing into the clinic looking for the pair. Stories were mixed on what had Exactly happened, and the hunter wasn't exactly in the most patient mood. When the scent of iron flooded his nostrils, he felt himself lurch into the dark examination room. It had no light, and he could barely make out Arvid's shape before feeling a familiar caracal brush by him.
Karim. Disregarding his long held issues with the golden feline, he turned to the cheetah mix again, following her line of sight to a far too small bloodied blanket. He frowned, ears pinning backward.
"Arvid...?"
Arvid had only just laid the sheet over the mangled and malnurished body of the young cat before her.
Or... at least it felt like it had been just then. Maybe it was longer. She didn't really know.
Cats were distressed when she arrived at the scene, and while she would've much prefered to be out and about, looking for the escapees that had just busted through the very window before her... Arvid was left to instead clean up a mess that most cats were privileged to miss out on. It definitely wasn't a sight for the weak. At the sudden call for her name, Arvid was expecting to still see a room of cats. Only... when she turned, it had seemed to be just her and Inky now.
"When did you get here?" Arvid started, kind of looking around his dark frame to check for more company.
"Just now." Inky was no stranger to violence, but upon moving closer, this isn't the normal scene. The only cat that would take joy in this scene would be Kallien, but that wasn't saying much. Forcefully, he kept his gaze strictly on the purple eyed feline. He needed to be here right now, not a million miles away in trauma land.
"I'm alone- I came..." suddenly, doubt struck him. "How long have you been here?"
”Uhm..” She examined the room. The blood at her paws had kind of dried. A lot had actually. ”A while, I suppose.”
His features softening, he tentatively paced forward to rest his nose to her shoulder; carefully positioning his frame half a tail length from her. He turned his gaze to the blood, willing himself to carve the mangled form underneathe the blanket. Before looking back at her, quirking his brows up a little, not in pity, sympathy, or anything. Honestly? It was the first time he felt this kind of pride in a while.
"That was very kind of you." And even stranger, he felt like himself again. Even just for a moment.
A moment passed them, even a few before she cleared her throat and shuffled a little to the side.
”Yeah.. Well someone had to do it.” she kind of mumbled, softly.
”He was rather little, even for an Oncilla.”
"He was a kid." He couldn't stop himself from observing outloud, turning his eyes to the exam table, noting the humans talking outside the room. One, unfamiliar to Inky, was holding a painfully familiar, too small bag in his hand and arguing with the vet. Soon the pair would be unwelcome when the strange man decided to collect the kitten by the window.
"Best keep moving, you've done good."
