We've noticed some errors with the event dates -- namely prompts ending in the middle of the week and members not given a full two weeks to get their entries in. Prompt 2 is now due by 8:59:59 PM PST July 2nd and LoX will run until the 16th. Sorry for the confusion!

You're relaxing in Morel Hollow, enjoying the bright sun and the light summer breeze. Many other mothcats are sprawled out across the green grass, quietly chattering as the sound of the birds chirp in the background. Suddenly, a frazzled looking Chive bursts into the clearing, another strange-looking mothcat hot on his heels. Chive introduces the foreign mothcat to everyone as Zoku.

Event Rules/Guidelines

You must be a Mothcats member to participate. (By being a member, you automatically agree to our Species Terms and Conditions .)
You must have an updated Mothcat Bank to participate in this event. See this journal for info on how to get one.
You do not need to own a Mothcat to participate.
Both admins and members can participate.
All prompt entries must be clearly labeled in the title and description.
All prompt entries must link back to this journal to advertise the group/event.
Submit all prompt entries to the [2017 Library of Xandeera] event folder.

Event Summary

The Library of Xandeera only reveals itself when the ring of fire around the sun occurs, and Xandeerean mothcats are sent out to complete their rite of passage. Zoku has embarked on his rite of passage to Aldora and plans to gather lots of knowledge. He's really going to need some assistance with it and that's where you come in! This event will be from June 2nd - July 16th. There will be 3 prompts, which will be running for 2 weeks each.

Every member and Mothcat/subspecies is eligible for this event. If you do not own a Mothcat/subspecies, you are welcome to use Honey or Chive for your entries (or a friend's if you have their permission first). You may draw, write, or craft to fulfill each prompt. Completing each prompt will earn you a prize. If you complete all three prompts, at the end of the event you will be awarded a bonus prize! In addition, there will prizes awarded for ~secret~ categories, which will be revealed at the end. Your prompts should be submitted to the [2017 Library of Xandeera] event folder.

MYO Event Details

Since our last MYO event was Rion Springs back in January 2016, this event will also be doubling as a MYO event! This means that any member of Mothcats is allowed to design their very own mothcat based on the Mothcats MYO Event Trait Sheet . Like last time, not all MYOs designed from this event will become official. At the end of the event, admins will choose a certain amount of cats to make official for free.

Any user who wasn't chosen will be given the opportunity to purchase a discounted MYO slot to use on the design the made for the event. (That means you can't buy the slot and design a new Mothcat, so design wisely!)

To participate in this MYO event, you must follow the rules below in addition to the event rules above:
This part of the event is completely optional. You don't have to make an MYO if you don't want to.
Use only the traits listed on the Mothcats MYO Event Trait Sheet for your design.
Anyone can participate- doesn't matter how many Mothcats you already own.
Mothcats created from this event can't be sold. They can be traded/gifted to other users within the Species Terms and Conditions .
You can only design one Mothcat. You do not need approval from floramisa to use the design for the event prompts. Any necessary changes will be commented directly on the entry.
You may not participate in the MYO half of this event if your account is not in good standing with Mothcats . If you are wondering what this means, then this rule does not apply to you.
When submitting art of your event MYO mothcat, please include in your description that it is an "Unofficial MYO" - meaning it hasn't been approved as a Mothcat yet!
If you need help designing your MYO, then a couple of our Mothcats Official Artists have volunteered to design them for you. Please read the information linked in the MOA journal and contact either cathedraIs , DarlingJess , or Twinsharks for help regarding MYO designing.

Prompt 1
This prompt will run from June 2nd - June 15th. Entries are due by 8:59:59 PM PST on the 14th

Zoku has travelled so far to learn about Aldoran culture. His first stop is Morel Hollow and he's rather excited to learn about all of its inhabitants! In particular, he wants to know what brought each cat here today. Were they born here, or did they travel from another part of Falena? Was there a reason why they came to Morel Hollow if they travelled? Or are they just visiting a relative or friend?

Prompt 2
This prompt will run from June 16th - July 2nd. Prompts are due by 8:59:59 PM PST on the 2nd

Now that Zoku has gotten a much better grasp on who lives here, he wants to learn all about the culture! He's eager to learn, so help Zoku out by telling him something about yourself or what you like to do in your spare time! Is there a favourite book? Favourite hobby? Maybe even try getting Zoku to try something with you! Knitting, perhaps?

This prompt will run from July 2nd - July 16th. Prompts are due by 8:59:59 PM PST on the 16th

Wow, Zoku is full of knowledge now! He's very grateful to everyone who helped him gather this information. The last thing he needs to do before completing his rite of passage is to compile it all into books! Help Zoku out by helping him craft those books. Maybe gather some materials like quills and paper. Or dictate his notes to him while he transcribes them.
