FEmale Pheasants look a lot different from their male counterparts and are - sadly - a lot less well documented it seems...

Meaning I'm not 100% sure this is the right identification

Species: Edwards’s Pheasant (Edwards’ fazant)

Latin name: Lophura Edwardsi

Originates from the rainforests of Vietnam.

Current status: Critically Endangered

Did you know:

…There’s a nominate species and a northern species – the Vietnamese Pheasant – where the latter has more white. It is not known whether the difference is due to inbreeding, or a fragmented population, although the northern form has also been observed in captive, inbred members of the species.

…They suffer from deforestation and hunting, as well as the after-effects of the use of defoliants – a chemical used on plants to cause their leaves to fall off – during the Vietnam War. However, they are doing very well in captive situation and there an ex situ conservation programme for them.
