Description

When: November 3, 2019

Where: Apenheul Apeldoorn, The Netherlands

This beauty would sit in a perfect place, despite having a baby clutched to her breast (look closely!). She is a terrific and protective mother, but doesn't mind semi-closeness. I say semi, because she is free-range and can go where she wants, but it's up to people to keep their distance. We are ones that do keep our distance at all times

Especially with a baby around

Species: White-Faced Saki (Witgezichtsaki)

Latin name: Pithecia Pithecia

Originates from Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuala.

Current status:

Did you know:

…They are also known as the Guianan Saki and the Golden-Faced Saki.

…White-Faced Sakis display very noticeable sexual dimorphism in both coloration and size. The males are bigger, have a black body and the distinctive white face that lends the species its name. Females are more brown in color, with light stropes fraoming the mouth.

…Pairs often mate for life, and are very devoted to one another. They have not been studied over a long period of time, so biologists aren’t sure whether they’re strictly monogamous.

How sweet and precious, I wouldnt have known the baby was there if you didnt say it. Such a precious little face. I love how they protect their children. Better then humans do anytime.

And it would be incredibly stupid if we didn’t. Would I love to play with a big cat, yes. Do I respect wildlife to realize I can’t, definitely.
This mother looks docile right now. But if you try to touch her child, I wouldn’t want to be you.
Great photo.

She was very calm yes, but I think if someone reached out a hand, she would turn around and walk away She already kept her distance where she could; they  wll sit down close to people, but I think especially with babies they are more wary of people.

Thanks
