I can't look at this beautiful baby boy without getting teary-eyed
This is a photo of little Joep at no more than 2 weeks old; he died a week ago in the night of July 26th/ July 27th after an extreme heat wave had our country in its grisp. Despite being offered shade and access indoors at all times, he's an animal and a baby at that. You can't force them to do anything they don't want to, and trying to get an excited kid to take is easy....
He got too excited, and the heat got to him to the point where no amount of care and effort from the zoo's keepers could save him
Species: Brazilian or Lowland Tapir (Brazilaanse of Zuid-Amerikaanse Tapir)
Latin name: Tapirus Terrestris
Originates from South America.
Current status: Vulnerable

How sad that this magnificent little baby died because of climate change. We are fortunate however that we can remember his essence from your beautiful photograph.

It makes me feel even more confusion hearing people speak of how climate change doesn't exist.
For little Joep, it was the heat couple with a bacterial pneumonia they discovered during his autopsy that did his young body in.
