Where: Apenheul Apeldoorn, The Netherlands

This is the location where all Lemurs gather at the end of the day, because it leads to their indoors enclosure from what we can tell. This young boy settled in quite early, all by himself.

We felt just a little bit sorry for him, going it solo once again, but he seemed relatively at ease with it. And, he had the best spot for going inside

Species: Crowned Lemur (Kroonmaki)

Latin name: Eulemur Coronatus

Originates from Madagascar.

Current status: Endangered

Did you know:

…Crowned Lemurs are sexually dimorphic; females have a gray body with an orange crown, while males are a dark reddish brown, crowned with black and orange.

…They have long, non-prehensile tails which they use to balance jumping from branch to branch, but also for communication in their close knit, female-led social groups.
