Description
When: October 16, 2019
Where: BestZOO Best, The Netherlands
Raja is a very dominant male - he doesn't get fed at the same time as his mate Maya does. It's one of the moments they're separated, even though they are truly found of each other.
Mango's birth hasn't been easy on them, allowing Maya time to raise her son, but this has also meant time apart from her mate. At the end of the day, Maya and Mango go inside and Raja goes outside. They get to smell the same places, even if they don't share the same place at the same time.
I stayed late, which is the only reason I got to see this handsome guy again
Species: Jaguar
Latin name: Panthera Onca
Originates from the Americas.
Current status: Near Threatened
Did you know:
…On the surface, the Jaguar resembles a Leopard, but he’s larger and of sturdier build, has bigger set spots, and it’s behavioral and habitat characteristics, are more like that of a Tiger.

Aah, we would too and I think they would as well - in theory at least
Don't think we'll see that ever, but happy we finally got to see him again

Thanks
It was taken through vertical fencing actually (it's a rather old-fashioned zoo like that...) and that's what cases the discoloration. We can't completely filter it out - also because we're not big expert on editing software
But he's got such a broad head, there's no way not to get any fencing in the photo.. But we wanted to share him anyway

And now for the politically incorrect commentary by Jeremy Clarkson, based on his interpretation of Jag drivers...
He's kept separated because he might be domestically violent....but it's OK because he's a JAAAAAAAGG!
[disclaimer: not my view, just when I see a jaguar, JC's silliness pops in my head]

Aah, he did love a Jag more than anything... Good times
And well, politically incorrect comments will always be here, and we know to take it with a grain of salt

There was a whole skit of the three of them doing Non-PC jag references like that, funny and cringy at the same time.

Definitely has the appearance of the dominant apex predator that he is.
