Description
This is a statue of Hans Conrad Schumann 'the man who leaped in to history'. He was an East German soldier who famously defected to the West German side during the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961. On 15 August 1961 Schumann, who was 19 at the time, was sent to guard a section of the Berlin Wall that was on it's third day of construction. The only significant wall that was there was a some barbed wire. On the other side, Germans shouted "Komm' rüber!" ("Come over!"). Schumann promptly jumped the fence and was driven away from the scene by West Berlin police. Peter Leibing, a West German photographer captured Schumann's escape which would later become an iconic image of the Cold War era, a symbol of defiance against the iron grip of dictatorships, a glimmer of hope for those suffering due to the Soviet occupation.Related content

Oh Communism you're like Call of Duty in almost every conceivable way. You're overhyped, your fanbase are all a bunch of 12 to 15 years old brats who think they're badass because they defied the law of nature and common sense. Your a buggy, glitch filled mess that's not polished and fix but still roll out new releases and flops on an annual basis. You know what i want my money back. Who was the developer and publisher of this glitch filled mess anyway? *Put on glasses and read* The Karl Marx studio? Time to call the lawyer.

Thank you. East Germans both civilian and soldiers ran to the west is proof that the Communist System doesn't help anyone but tied down the masses and proliferate the Communist Party (Who operate like thugs).

Yes, the problem with Communism is that it doesn't offer much economic manoeuvrability for the working class as all money is sucked up by the state. We are kind of seeing that now, governments take the money of the ordinary people to prop up bloated businesses, basically communism for big business.
