Description When the bright sploches finally cleared from his eyes, Cyrus could see nothing but the ceiling and the fan whirring above his head. He grumbled and hoisted himself up to a sitting position. The room was familiar, he had passed this room on his tour of the school. The Nurse's office.

"Ugh...what happened?" He said to no one in particular.

"Well, buddy ole' pal, you sort of passed out and your head hit the cupboard behind you," Bradley said, rising up from a chair that Cyrus didn't see him in. Having that same lazy grin on his face, Bradley walked over and sat on the table next to the bed.

"Man, that information must have been too much for you, Cyrus. I never thought I'd see the day when info nearly kills a guy!" Bradley must have been trying to lighten up the mood so Cyrus smiled a bit.

"You can't blame me, man. Any other normal person would faint too."

"Um, there's a little problem there. No offence but your in no way normal." And there he goes. God he gives me a headache Cyrus thought. But it wouldn't be Bradley if he didn't.

"I figured that out a long time ago. But it's to nice to dream I was normal." Yeah...some comeback. Brad smirked and rested his arms on his lap and shook his head slowly. "It's too bad..."

Cyrus scoffed. "Honestly, I was thinking that you were probably the only normal thing about my life but I was wrong." He shrugged and grinned, "Your the first Hunter, up to this point, I have ever met."

"Shadowhunter."

"What?" He said.

Bradley shrugged. "Remember when I told you I was a Hunter? Well I already collected my amount of souls waiting for you. Shadowhunter."

He sighed. "Okay let me rephrase: Your the first Shadowhunter I've ever met."

"That's too bad then," Bradley said. "since all the others you meet from now will be a total let-down." Cyrus rolled his eyes and exhaled through his nose, trying not to show that Bradley's idiocy behaviour can get to him. Again. And he was about to say something that would contradict that little piece of knowledge when the door opened.

Cyrus looked up and froze-Ohmygod.

"Okay, luckily you don't have a major concussion but there will be a bruise. It's almost unusual. Normally, an accident like that would cause a minor head trauma but you seem good as new. Aren't you lucky?"

Stop being a moron! Speak to her! His mind screamed. It was at that point that he noticed Bradley had made a swift exit. "Oh-uh-okay." God that was brilliant.

"Oh, well. Didn't hurt to double-check. You can rest, I'll be back there."

She smiled and started to turn away and his mouth finally managed to work a little more correctly. "I think I'm a little lucky. I mean, I've had worse in the head area. But I've never been sent to the Nurse's before..." Totally dorklike, he patted the side of his head with his knuckles.

"Well maybe you should try being more careful. Seems like you might have it in you to." She held out her hand. "Usually by this time, my assistant comes by and gives me a break but I sent her off for coffee. I'm not a full time nurse here though I have been at this school for over a year now. But I have extra time. I'm Nicole Summers, nurse and part time office worker."

He took her hand, trying not to think about how warm her hand was, how firm she felt, and how alone they were in empty nurse's room.

"I know," he said. Then he wanted to slit his throat. What an idiotic thing to say! "What I mean is I know who you are." Cyrus realized he was still grasping her hand and let go of her. "I'm Cyrus Felton." Her smile made his heart flop around inside his chest.

"I know who you are, too." Her gorgeous eyes, so dark they looked black and bottomless, sparkled mischievously. "You're the first person to work here to have no idea what anything is. It's nice to finally meet you. You have strong Guardian blood in you." A strand of light brown hair hung in front of her face which she swept back. "George has told me alot about you."

"He has?" He was shocked that his voice choked up. What did Tatum know about him?

"Of course he has. He expects great things from you, even says that you have a strong soul." She shrugged. "Whatever that means."

She didn't say anything else. Yet, the silence wasn't uncomfortable. Almost soothing. It was then that Cyrus noticed that his fingers almost touched hers.

"So sorry to interrupt but Cyrus, man, I need you."

Bradley's voice broke the spell between Nicole and he, as well as almost giving him a heart attack. Actually, Nicole looked as shaken as Cyrus felt. She moved her hand away and walked quickly to the room that labeled 'Staff Only'.

He sat where he was like he'd grown to the bed, trying to look oh-so-busy staring up at the ceiling. He heard Bradley walk into the room, out of the doorway, and exchange a few words with Nicole. He could hear her leaving, and almost as if he couldn't help it, he turned and looked at her. She was walking out the door and not paying the least bit of attention to him. But Bradley was staring straight at him with a mocking smile curving his lips. Well, hell.
