latest in a long line
I was a bit worried about this one but seems to've been relatively unfounded, I think. I've worked out that this process is not for the faint-hearted; there were a lot of points during this painting where I just thought; nope, this ain't working . . . But I knew that all the others had gotten through that stage fine, so 'twas all good. A bit of different texture helped ease the monotony, too, so woo! to that.
I took a screencap so I'll put the video up tomorrow (I need sleep now). Enjoy!
EDIT. Video's up . Pity about the music, but anyways... Perhaps I shouldn't've used the album version.

I know the struggle sometimes. The usual relationship between myself and my work is chronicled as: "Hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, tolerate it, love it, finish it." The first two-thirds of my time is wrought with worry...well used to be. Until I just learned that the worry and preconception of "this ain't gonna turn out at all" eventually passes when enough time and dabbling is put forth on an image.
And here, it pays off well. Your effort is very evident; it's clear. Awesome work.

i saw your youtube video, and is amazing, i just don't understand the begining of the coloring, what do you add there ?, like black shadows and.... really don't know give me a clue XD.

It's not that complicated, it is just painting in the shadows over a darkish gradient background; it's always better to work dark-light I find than the other way around.

XD, ok i saw your video again and i have conclude that the minute 1:40 to 1:52 is to weird!! i kind of understand the painting shadows first, but what is all you do in that time????

It's using the quick-mask mode, hence the red painting. It basically allows you to paint in a selecting, and then apply a gradient to that area.
(to try it, press Q or there's a little button under your colours in the tools palette, and then just draw onto the page... press Q again and it makes a selection for you).
Very handy tool.

That is NOT something that you would want to mess with! Those were probably the most fun units to use, just make massive hordes of them and then just absolutely swamp the enemy base with them, then watch the entire base go up all at once! they were better than dropping a ton of nukes on them at once(though that was awesome too) Great job on the detail! Though...how does it see what it's going after without any eyes?

I loved these things!
I remember making an army of them just to see all of them blow up together. [unless I am remembering something incorrectly here] Amazing details, and I quite enjoy how you shaded; it looks like it is more roughly done than other very detailed artworks I have seen but it somehow maintains very accurate feel with all the textures. I think you captured the Zerg-like surfaces perfectly.
Your choice of colors are also extremely well done; the use of slightly fading look on the colors made this image very dynamic. I believe I am enjoying every bits of strokes of brush on this artwork. Thank you for sharing!
