Description
This set (Throne of Tides) has been out for a while now so here's one of two cards I did for it.A little unexciting compositionally but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Enjoy

I like it, though she seems a bit thin. They oughtta have more art of draenei girls with serious muscle mass--enough at least to look like they can sling around those giant swords.
Dangit, there was one TCG piece that actually did it right...not sure if it was in this set, but I think she was a draenei warrior or shaman.

wish my brush was that hard... ;DD
do you know how I change the presets so the brush tip space stays on 1? every time I pick the brush the space gets back to 25% and it's annoying as hell..
(I'm using CS3)

Love all of your work. I'd love to see you take something on traditionally one time. It'd be killer as well. (not that these aren't spectacular.)

Excellent armor details, it's something that I love in WoW fan-arts.
If they could be this accurate in-game it should take another dimension to be honest.
Nice work MrJack !

That makes sense, since it's a set of armor from World of Warcraft.

i really like the way you paint metal. your painterly effect adds a nice touch to the whole picture. but there are a couple anatomy issues. he torso is short, making her appear kind of squat. because of this, the crotch also appears high. her arms are a bit odd, especially the one holding the sword. the elbow should be a bit above the belly button, right about at the waistline. i do like the way you painted her raised hand, though. also (and this might just be a personal gripe) her legs look pretty nondescript. thinking of someone with lots of armor on (barring fantastical liberties you could take with such a subject), one would imagine her legs to be fuller, mostly the inner thigh.
that being said, i'm in no way a professional. but if i'm striving towards anything right now, it's improved anatomy.
hope this is helpful in some way!

The torso doesn't look short at all; regardless of that being said, people have varying proportions. Someone may be the same height as you, but have longer legs than you and a shorter abdomen, and vice versa.
In any case, I don't think he was looking for a critique as this is paid work he did.
A good rule of thumb for suggesting critique is if you state what you're striving for and there's nothing in your gallery to show that you're striving for it, no one will take your critiques seriously in the end.

i don't see why you're trying to defend the artist. i was in no way trying to attack him. i actually really like his work. also i figure there's some other purpose for the comments section than "OH WOW THAT'S SO AWESOME" ad infinitum. and since the artist hasn't blocked comments, i'll post what i please.
does being a paid work immediately mean it's "above" critique? does it mean that critique doesn't help? if anything, an artist who's making art for money should want all the critique they can get so they'll get more money next time.
also, about the whole "nothing in my gallery" thing. does that really matter? does an empty dA gallery automatically mean that i'm completely idling away my time? does it mean i've never had any art on here ever?
i was giving critique based on ideal proportions (8 heads and so on), which is what the overwhelming majority of artists on dA seem to be striving for.
and, in any case, if the artist has something to say, he'll say it. until then, i'm fairly sure he doesn't need someone doing the talking for him.

I never said you were attacking him, did I?
He works for Blizzard, I'm pretty sure he doesn't need critique on ideal proportions. He passed that test for them already. I'm pretty sure I can post (and reply) what I please too to be honest. I'm not trying to start a war here...
I'm just saying use better judgment, especially if the artist doesn't specifically ask for critique on an image. dA has specific critique functionality for artists who needs or wants it.
And yes, nothing in your gallery really does matter. It doesn't specifically mean you're idling away time, which is another thing I never said. And yes, you have art on there, but only 1 image with 3 process shots. It's like hiring an attorney telling you what to say in court with no experience of winning a case or let alone going to law school.
If you really knew it, you'd know that the 8-head rule isn't at all realistic. Usually it's 6 & a half to 7. It's just what Loomis taught and everyone adapted to for figure drawing, to be frank. Again, proportions vary with each individual so that's why giving him critique on something such as proportions when she looks physically correct (disregarding stylization) is unnecessary.
So I'm not talking for him, I'm just giving you a bit of advice. Because I, too, am fairly sure he doesn't need someone to talk for him, let alone need help in his current circumstance.

i just think that you never get good enough not to listen to some critique. if professional artists, cartoonists, etc. can spend their entire lives having their work critiqued from every angle by many people, professional or not, why should one comment from one artist with any degree of knowledge be ignored. people judge things by how they see them, and at least i said something specific. i would prefer to have every single comment on all of my pieces of art say something constructive. no matter who says it. because it means people care enough to want to dissect what i've made instead of just look at it for 30 seconds, slap a +fav on it, and then move on.
which also raises the issue of the extremely odd critique system dA's thrown into the mix, just to get people to want to pay, but that's really not all that important.
anyway, i understand where you're coming from, i understand you and he have much more experience than i do, but i think i'm still entitled to voice an opinion on a public website.
