Description
Put a little bit of Loomis stuff I've been doing towards character designs for a game I was going to run that is so never happening. It was still fun trying to draw varied but (mostly) believable faces. Makes me want to try drawing some of my characters in a similar style!Some of these characters are based on real people! Can you identify them?
I am at maximum busy at the moment and am very sorry. I still want to produce content, but it's going to be tough going for the near future. I have a valentines image and everything, but its late obviously.
Anyways, see you soon. Not dead. Really giving thought to a patreon this year.

It wouldnt translate into my comics necessarily, not directly anyway, but it's a lot of fun, and some of the things I learn may have applications.

The emotion in each face is apparent. Imagining what kind of life each of them live is possible just by looking at the way they face and how they seem to take what's in front of them. Specifically the upper-middle-left panel looks like he's seen a bit of shit in his time.
His face isn't so much aggressive as it is exasperated, made that way by the life he leads. At least, that's my interpretation.

Recognizably your work, I'd say you succeeded in retaining elements of your style in a more realistic rendering. (This is good since I dig your style, it would be a pity to water it down in search of realism, as some artists do)

Sure sure, but I've seen many times someone with a distinctive cartoony style just turn up one day with boring semi realistic work presented as an improvement, as if they were ashamed of their earlier work. But you're not doing that, so that's good.

Actually, it's a pretty cool evolution of your work - I can see the little of touches that are distinctly you, but are a much higher level of detail and fidelity. Awesome!

It's always cool to see fellow artists pushing themselves past their comfort zone to improve their craft. I have found with my own experimentation to improve that doing stuff like this works wonders. Its also a great thing for "Cartoonists" or anyone who favors a more simplistic style to do exercises like these. TRUST ME you keep at this and you will see some major improvements even wen you go back to your default style. I look at it like lifting the artistic weights, do it enough and your art builds muscle. I like the different angles as well as the details you put into the portraits, I had to do a double take to make sure it was you. I would totally call this a "graphic novel" style, and it looks very cool. Keep at it man, your efforts did not go unnoticed!

There is definitely CONSIDERABLY more diversity in the facial structure of these characters - whatever you're experimenting with is helping you expand your talents noticeably.
