Description Queen Angeline gazed into her golden hand mirror, admiring her beauty, searching in vain for imperfection. But how long could that last? she wondered. All things fade. Even the dark musty archives in which she stood were free of dust and cobwebs once.

"Mirror, mirror," she said showily, "would that my beauty could last forever!"

"Ah, but it can," the reflection whispered back.

The queen was transfixed on the mirror more than before.  It began to expand before her, giving a wider view of not only her own magnificence but her surroundings as well. Oddly, it did not reflect the walls and shelves of the archives, but rather a pastoral landscape filled with lush greenery and sparkling rivers.  The mirror continued to widen, its round edges squaring off at the corners. Angeline reached towards her reflection, eager to trade her dreary environment for one that would better compliment her.

There was a flash, and suddenly she was staring at the archives again, without her own image to conceal them.  She looked over her shoulder to see a bright, sunny field.  She didn't feel the warm sun or the gentle breeze. In fact, she felt a little wet. Her trusty mirror was back in her hand, though, so all was well. She knew her beauty would remain preserved for centuries, perhaps even longer with proper restoration.

"Now if only someone will hang me in a place where I can address my subjects," she said. She reached up to brush a stray hair, but decided to wait until she dried. "Many queens have ruled from a gilded throne; a gilded frame should make no difference."

THE END...
or is it?

This reminds of the paintings in witch's house. (The rpg horror game)

Not many people could make being turned into a painting not terrifying, but your eloquent writing succeeded. Congratulations.

Thanks! I'm not of the mindset where all TF subjects need to be victims.

Same here. I don't like taking away a characters consiousness, which is why I dislike inanimate TFs.

Angela didn't do that crime! She was framed.

As someone who works in a frame shop, I hear that one a lot. But not as often as you'd think.

I meant the episode here doesn't ink to the epilogue.

seems kind of like you killed her and made her inanimate... with a small amount of consciousness attached.

I don't kill. Imprison in a painting? Sure, but if there's any consciousness, then she's not dead. Even her painted image is able to move within the confines of the landscape behind her.

It's all semantics really, but I just don't like inanimate TFs. I always avoid them, even if just by adding one word to the description. (eg: "living" statue)

I should set her up with my friend Vigo! He's worth about a thousand words too, and he's a noble of some sort...

Painting'd!
Clearly, poor Angela never played Ib...
Either way, pretty creative ending here, I never would've thought we'd get something like this.
Looks radical though, it definitely looks like a painting.

The process of making this one was a little different from the rest of the AMLs. The frame is done the normal way, where I just color an inked drawing. The "painting" was a pencil drawing without any ink. I colored it in a separate layer in Photoshop, and turned the opacity down and set the layer to Multiply so the pencil marks would still be visible. It actually didn't take all that long because I didn't need to hunt for gaps in the outline, a common exercise when using the Paint Bucket.

...Huh, well that's interesting! Neat to see how this was one was done under the hood.
Looks really radical too, so cool!
