Description ***Update*** 4/25/12: Photoshop is amazing...once again, I felt that the original posted version of this pic was bland with the lack of a good background and her flatly shaded/highlighted hair. I changed Raina's hair to my most recent style of highlighting, changed her lip color...I realize that most of my characters don't wear make up and she could use a little bit of dash to make her pop...and I added the building and moon via brushes that I found here on DA! There are some actual issues with Raina's features such as her nose and her head seems a tad bit too big, but it looks much better than what it used to be.

=================================
"I've been on the beat here in Angel Falls for almost two years now, and I must say...being a cop is a lot more involved than what I originally thought, well in this city at least! When I first got the news from my employers back at B.E.C.A. HQ that I was being sent here to be a mere cop I was a bit insulted and thought that I was being punished or something. All I could think of was why would they send me, who has lead many solo missions against literal armies of formidable threats to a position to where I would be writing speeding tickets and responding to domestic dispute calls?!!? No offense to the officers that are in charge of doing those things, but I couldn't wrap my mind around being what I thought was demoted to a normal cop. Boy, was I wrong! All they told me that I wouldn't be just some doughnut eating flatfoot and that I was going to lead the Special Crimes Unit...their words did my actual job description no justice!

They were right...I'm no ordinary cop. Okay, me being a cyborg amazon kinda takes ordinary out of the equation with almost anything that I'm involved in, but still. I didn't stop to think that I would be in my element here in Angel Falls with the heavy amount of metahumans, aliens, cyborgs, robots, demons, and other supernatural beings inhabiting this city. When I first got here the SCU was a complete mess...all of the weapons and armor weren't at all up to snuff to deal with a deranged kindergartner with a pair of safety scissors in his hands. The few officers that were a part of the SCU were scared shitless from basically being repeatedly sent out to get their asses kicked by metahuman criminals and villains that they were no match for. It was either that or they had just grown lazy as hell from always having one of the big named superheroines come and save the day. The SCU was seen as a joke, and in turn, it reflected negatively on the whole AFPD making the non-metahuman crime rate soar. Sure, there are quite a few Superheroines and heroes in this city, but they can't be everywhere nor can they respond to every single crime that occurs; that was the initial point of creating the Special Crimes Unit, however that plan wasn't at all working.

That's when the Angel Falls City Council had commissioned B.E.C.A. to provide the weapons and technology to the AFPD: SCU to give them a fighting chance against metahuman criminals, villains, and threats of a supernatural nature. They were also looking for someone to head the SCU who had much combat experience with dealing with said threats...I feel like as soon as I walked through the door on my first day back from an extended sabbatical from my duties as an agent for B.E.C.A. that the powers that be chose me to be the one because it was convenient. It seemed like I was the lucky girl that was stuck with the Angel Falls gig that no one else wanted and being that I had been off duty for a few years, that I'd get sent to the big city to play cops and robbers after getting some serious upgrades and a shit ton of weapons, armor, and vehicles to take with me.

In hindsight...I see that I wasn't just chosen because I was at the wrong place at the wrong time just to fill a gap. This place needed a warrior...someone that knows what they're doing in the face of extreme danger to make sure that the duties of being a SCU officer are being upheld. This job is much more involved than I originally thought; I had to bring some of my old buddies and comrades-in-arms from B.E.C.A along with me such as Simone Rattica, Deuce, and Techna to help me set the foundation and the standard of what it is to be a Special Crimes Unit officer. We retrained all of the other SCU officers; got rid of all of the weak links; replaced the inferior weapons, armor, and out of date technology; made a few changes in the rules; and really stirred up the pot. In just a few short months I was able to turn the SCU around from being the L.A. Clippers of our police force to being a group that garners respect from our fellow officers and citizens as well as make meta-criminals and villains think twice about committing crime. We have also been able to lighten up the work load for the superheroines and heroes out there, thus lowering the crime rate...it's been the lowest here than it's ever been since I've taken the reins of the SCU as First Lieutenant; I guess the folks back at B.E.C.A. knew what they were doing when they chose me. By no means has it been a complete cakewalk, but the SCU is now finally serving the purpose of what it was originally meant to do under my command.

I don't say all of this to boast or brag, but this job of mine is truly amazing. I don't feel like a cop at all...I'm no different than any of the superheroes flying around here saving the day. I guess you could say that I'm a Supercop, as I'm just as fast and strong as some of the most powerful heroes and villains. It just so happens that I'm employed in part by the city in tandem with B.E.C.A. Oh yeah...there is the paperwork too, but thanks to everything being all digital now and having a high speed computer processor implanted in my brain, it's a breeze. And man...I love the challenge and the action that being the head of the SCU entails! I've got a team of my closest friends that I trust and that trust me; we're like family. This is as close as it gets to a dream job for me...and the pay's not too shabby either! The benefits and perks that I receive are pretty sweet too!

I have sworn to serve and protect this city, it's citizens, my fellow officers, and fellow defenders of justice with every fiber of my being. I will perform my duties to the best of my capabilities and give no less than 125% to keeping the streets of Angel Falls safe from criminal activity and evil threats. Criminals and Villains beware...if you're out of line and you break the law on my watch, I'm gonna get you!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the colors to It's one of my oldest OCs in the form of the cyborg police woman extraordinaire...1st. Lt. Raina Hunter of the Angel Falls Police Dept. as she's looking like she's all business right here! Once again, yes...you may recognize the pose from the cover of Underworld: Evolution and the title Supercop comes from an old Jackie Chan movie from the 90's. I just really wanted Raina looking fierce with her guns and all.

As for the color job, it's okay. Something seems off about it...can't put my finger on it though. I've been straying away from using backgrounds as of late, and maybe that's why it feels a little flat to me. And I may have gone a little overboard with the shiny highlights on her suit of armor. Her face kinda looks a bit big as well. Otherwise, I'm pleased for the most part.

You heard the lady...meta-criminals and villains better think twice when Lt. Hunter is on the prowl through the streets of !

Very nice picture, and a well written piece. We’re going to have to do a collaboration between the SCU and Section 51.

Thanks! And I'd be down with a collab between the SCU and Section 51...just let me know what you have in mind and we can make something happen!

The-Highlander In reply to Mr-Marcus-81 [2011-03-29 20:19:30 +0000 UTC]

Well, the obvious scenario would be for one of our groups to stumble onto the other while they are investigating the same group, and end up joining forces. The is also scope for plenty of disagreements between the two groups, since I take it that the SCU would be primarily interested in making arrests, while Section 51 would be perfectly happy just killing everyone.

I’m working on another story at the moment, but I should have that finished by the end of April. In the mean time we can work on a plot and basic outline.

It sounds like a plan! I too have another story that I need to wrap up and I would like to start my next major story here very soon, but just let me know when you're available and we can then get things kicked off!

Well I’m getting on pretty well with my story, so hopefully it wouldn’t be too long before we can start work on this one.

So I can start working on a plot outline do you have any ideas who we could team up to fight (should it be a β€˜named’ group or just a random gang’)? Also, would the SCU be involved much in surveillance and information gathering, or are they a pure combat force?

Mr-Marcus-81 In reply to The-Highlander [2011-04-05 05:25:07 +0000 UTC]

I need to hurry up and wrap up my current story, and at least get the next one started. I'm gonna be a bit busy in the next few days, but hopefully I can get some stuff done on my vacation next week.

As for who they could fight...we could always make up some random gang. That way we can keep things simple between just you and I without involving another person's character(s)...nothing against that, but it's usually a big ol' rigamaroll when you've got the characters of several people trying to do justice to everyone's character and such.

And the SCU are cops first and foremost...however being that they do deal with more dangerous issues than normal cops would, they sometimes have to use deadly force to protect themselves in the field of duty. They are rather combat heavy...they have many weapons that are non-lethal to get the job done. But they can cover all bases in surveillance, recon, and pure combat...they basically take care of situations that the S.W.A.T. team can't handle.

If you want to get an idea of how they handle business, check out my latest story involving 1st Lt. Raina Hunter and the SCU here [link]

Thanks...Raina can't let all of the badass heroines like SSW have all of the fun now! And that's actually a metallic suit of cyber armor that plugs directly into Raina's body, acting as an amplifier to her already amazing enhanced cybernetic attributes, making her even more stronger, faster, and powerful while she's wearing her armor!

And it doesn't hurt at all that she's also sexy as hell with it on too!

And yeah...I do owe you a backshot of her from last year!

Skintight, black and very, very shiny is definitely one my favorite costumes so I LOVE this image. I also loved the first two Underworld movies so I am disappointed in myself for not recognizing that pose.

On the one hand very clever product placement for that BECA logo, certainly a location we'd be looking at anyway. On the other hand is there no place safe from ads!!

That could get rather pricey...especially with Deuce! That girl can't keep her arms attached on her after a fight! However, I would imagine that two extra arms on those gunslingers gals of mine would definitely boost up their firepower!

But I did like the rest of the frame design...it's sleek and streamlined, yet highly durable."

I could always use an extra hand while I'm working on one of the girls or any of the heavier duty vehicles and such around here! I could plug the frame into my datajacks and neural net interface so I could control it with my thoughts as a living extension of me without actually having to graft cybernetic arms to my body! I like that idea, Poly!"
