Description
After a few months of working on this on and off through other distractions, it is done. I have been haphazzardly calling this my "masterpiece," but since I did not conceive the original concept, I can hardly claim that. Either way, it is probably one of my best pixel pieces to date, and I made extensive use of dithering, and it worked well I think.To see a picture of the original album cover, check here: [link] (courtesy of Amazon).

The version of the cover I've done here is based on the version of the album that I own. The heads in the field were apparently photographed several times over the course of two weeks during different times of day, with different weather, and with different lighting. And the covers vary between printings of the album on vinyl and CD, and between the releases under the EMI and Columbia labels.
The link in the description field is a scan of the same one I own, I believe.

Oh, it must be a newer version, because the original coverart (1994) by Strom Thorgerson had the light inbetween the mouthes of the heads. [link]

Nice work! The artwork it's so perfect!! This is indeed very similar to the album cover... and to say more about it, it's one of my favorite album from Pink Floyd ^^

Looks really good. I have one itch, though. The bottom of the statues are flat. Should have a slight roundness to them. But then again, I've never seen the original album cover.

You are partially correct. I, and this piece, was listed among many others in the Unknown Artists December Feature at the beginning of last month. No idea why they've done this, but what reason do I have to complain?

no reason at all and I am certainly not blaming you. Its just I'd remembered seeing it as a DD (guess it was only "featured" instead) and I thought that it just wasn't fair (again not blaming you) that the same thing was made a DD twice in my rememberance when there are lots of great artists... who like yourself before weren't known or featured. (Faulty memory apparently LOL)
Glad you cleared that up for me and, yes this piece is full on deserving of a DD
