Description NOTE: Heads up to my art buddies across the pond with their egregious use of u’s in words such as ‘colour’ and ‘favourite’, American politics ahoy!

UPDATE: Some of you might be wondering, “Wasn’t the Maverick in ‘Mega Man X’ named CHILL Penguin?” Well, OBVIOUSLY you chose not to play the SUPERIOR original dialogued ‘Rock Man X’, in which the Maverick was named Icy Penguigo…

Okay. I messed up. But out of 400 plus doodles, I think I’ve only ever flubbed three pictures on spelling or incorrect verbiage. Plus I think I can blame this on Sarah Palin as well. HOW DEEP DOES HER MISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN RUN?!?!?!

====================
Cappy’s (Not So) Random Rant
====================
Being in a California university, I can state that the rumor about turning students into liberal bleeding hearts is true. My political beliefs have shifted to the Left. But let it be known that Cappy isn’t easily swayed! It wasn’t people spouting “Republicans are the mother effing devil!” that had me convert out of White guilt. I take the time to formulate my opinions by researching topics, and I concluded that Democrat philosophies are more capable of addressing the needs of the clients and disenfranchised that yearn for help that will be part of my job.

Republican ideals of traditional values really cater to White traditional values, which leaves out a bunch of other races and ethnicities who, believe it or not, might not benefit by adopting the White lifestyle. It’s hard to address this, but White people need to consider that the perceived American Dream of “strong work ethic and determination will make you a success story”, does not take into account hidden racism, lack of resources, among other outside influences. You can be the most upstanding individual, but that can’t affect the racist views of the interviewer for that job. Telling people to change on the inside, without addressing the outside, and the subsequent failure to obtain that American Dream, causes other races and ethnicities to internalize the failure as a personal flaw because they just didn’t want it hard enough.

This is what I’ve composed myself by research and good dialoguing with some wonderful students willing to open up to a Cracker. But allow me to give you one more example of how important it is for Republicans to reconsider the real worth of traditional values.

At my college, we had a “discussion” about politics and the recent proposition legislations. I tried to warn people that my fear would be that the liberal majority would overpower the conservative minority unless everyone was willing to agree that every person’s perceived political beliefs were truth to that person. Look, both Republicans and Democrats are given “facts” that support their beliefs and ideals; both can look at an issue and come to two very different conclusions, which is why discussions turn into debates that turn into screaming matches because “facts” on the same issues don’t match. The only way to be civil would be to ask for someone to tell you their political beliefs for the simple purpose of learning what the other side believes in, otherwise you’re challenging biased facts with your own biased facts; and the “fact” of the matter is is that these facts help explain the nature of things to that individual, and if it works for them it works.

I stated that my creed has been to take Benjamin Franklin’s advice and “that in a polite society, one does not talk about religion or politics”. I was quickly subdued by my classmates who adamantly exclaimed that they were so open as to produce a friendly environment for discussion.

Fast forward to the next day, and a conservative classmate was overcome with emotion because all the President/Republican/mainstream religion/conservative legislation bashing made her feel like an awful person for her beliefs.
Mission accomplished!
Once everyone agreed to be civil and allow people to speak their mind without (a lot of) challenge, we got into some good discussion:

Conservative: Look at the gay marriage proposition. I need to stick with my religious beliefs and vote with what’s in my heart.
Liberal: When I vote on a measure…I strip away all my morals, and vote on how the measure is going to affect people other than me.
Conservative: Did you just say you throw away all your morals?
Me: I think I understand what [the liberal] is saying. To really empower people, you need to not use your morals as a filter, because not everyone lives by your morals. In fact, your morals could hurt other people if they’re forced to live by your standards. Here’s an example. We’re a Christian nation, right? Most of our laws reflect Christian values. That’s fine since WE’RE Christians and it caters to us. What if we were a Buddhist nation? How would you feel if Buddhists came in and said “the way you’re raising your kids is totally not very Buddhist. You need to convert to our way of raising children or we’ll take your kids way.” I think this viewpoint can help put you in other people’s shoes…but you can totally ignore me. This is my opinion, and you have your opinion. If your beliefs work for you, then I think that’s what matters.

And the same goes for this rant. You don’t have to believe anything you just read. This is my opinion and my possible explanation of why there are so many people out there hurting. If your beliefs work for you, then wonderful. But if you’re constantly feeling inferior due to your beliefs…maybe there’s a snag in the logic that doesn’t really fit with the reality you live in. And maybe your logic isn’t realistic to how you judge people of other cultures.

====================
Cappy’s Rockin’ Rendition
====================
Okay, lemme get this art description out of the way. At some point, upon hearing “Maverick, Maverick, Maverick” used as a verb when describing John McCain, I had the ludicrous epiphany that he looked eerily like Sigma from Mega Man X. It took about five seconds for my turbo brain to link his Alaskan running mate Sarah Palin with Ice Penguin.
Those elemental themed baddies finally prove useful!

I found this premise funny, and thought about illustrating the idea. But no. I decided to wait and see if McCain/Palin could win the presidency, otherwise this idea would be a contemporary commentary…doomed to be obscured within a month or two. Of course, only AFTER the election did I realize I had it in me to make Capcomedian links to Obama/Biden.

And Just like a prom queen’s period, I seem to be late! I’m not sure if this will even be appreciated. So here. I have no theory as to how my brain comes up with this stuff.

There was a record turnout for voting on November 4th. 117% of Americans voted, it was that crazy! And let’s be honest…the deluge of democratic diarrhea can be solely contributed to Americans being Obamacised. If it were McCain versus White Guy Number Two, I’m sure Election Day enthusiasm would have played out a little differently:

Molly: Are you going to vote today?
Jason: Pssh. I dunno, it’s just two White dudes.

And so I voted that day; it’s been so long since I’ve voted that the polling place declared me an “inactive voter”. I didn’t believe the “OBAMA WON” announcements until the man himself came on stage, gave the thumbs up, and said “Aw snap son, you mofos Baracked da vote!!”

I watched McCain’s concession speech, and was filled with pity for Grandpa Squashface. I urge you, if it’s still on the site, to visit PBS’s website and watch the McCain/Obama comparison biographies. McCain is such a tragic character. People really respected the man when he had political aspirations last election term; his Maverick tagline actually held water with him reaching across party lines and calling out shenanigans on his own party. He was character assassinated to horrible extents, and left him with no leg to stand on politically.

He had to make an awful choice, and had to pander to the people who destroyed his career to claw back up, which is why you saw so much doublespeak clips comparing old McCain to new McCain. Conversely (that means opposite!), it was interesting to learn Obama was pretty low key his entire political career (which upset those who thought he was meant for big things), slowly stockpiling resources to launch a presidential run.

Back to the concession speech. I didn’t see it live, so I had to watch it online. An online comment really hit me:

“Yeah, it was a gracious speech. It was well written, well delivered, well intentioned. And the words, by themselves, mean a lot. But f*** the soulless, cowardly piece of s*** who delivered them. You ran a campaign based almost solely towards the end, on creating a distrust and almost animalistic hatred of your opponent by freely letting your thug-like followers not only use racism as a tactic, but misinformation and flat-out lies. Not little dumbs*** political lies where you fudge a little on some figures or cherry pick a few polls, but flat out goddamn lies. Whatever honor or respect you once held for your "Service" to America is shredded beyond recognition because of the depths to which you sank just to win a political office. F*** you and your legions of racist, bigoted, misinformed, willfully ignorant supporters. “

I assume Republicans are embarrassed at the BLATANT AND FLAMBOYANT racism and fear mongering that a few supporters gloated, and that Palin humored without remorse. I was afraid fellow Americans would be stupid enough to fall for these barbaric tactics, but I will give props to the American People for putting their feet down and siding with Obama’s (relatively) earnest campaign.

The horrid hatred could even be seen within the concession speech, with the supporters heckling and booing McCain’s mere mention of Obama’s name…which amplified my pity as I witnessed McCain’s attempt to subdue the venom. On the opposite spectrum, Obama supporters clapped and cheered Obama’s praise for his opponent.

Anyway, I’d ask you to comment on the art itself and not about your own political beliefs which could incite flame wars. If you wanna take that gamble, I won’t delete or hide your comments, but might I suggest rather you posting a link to your own political illustration? I promise to visit it and leave feedback!

Quasi-political doodle. Mostly just goofy.

On the art: I'm kinda scared. 'Nuff said.

On the rant:
I give props to McCain for a better concession speech than I was expecting, but I agree in less violent terms with the fellow you quoted: it doesn't quite make up for fanning the flames of a rabid hate for the several months prior.

Congratulations President Obama!
When I really realized that he won, I honestly just burst into tears I was so happy.... my happy tears are scary as my angry/ ones though unfortunately. The celebration at my house was a bit awkward...

Nah, my neighbors are pretty understanding now with the expression/mood mismatching thing. But it still scares my mom when I go around looking like medusa and insisting "I AM HAPPY!" in the evil voice.

I think that Obama is one in a million not because of who he just is as a politician, but also who he seems to be as a person. He always seemed like a humanitarian and now that he's president, I hope that he is able to do alot of good for the people.

Very nicely done piece. Also very tactful of you to wait until the election was over to post it. Yeah, Palin really didn't do much for me. The SNL satire of that one interview, however, leaves me chortling to this very day.

Interviewer: Governor Palin, is it fair to say that you get increasingly cute under pressure?
Faux Palin: *high-pitched cutesy voice* Well, I suppose you could say that, pew, pew!!! *"shoots" with her fingers*

XDDDD I'm sorry, but that cracks me up every time.

Why do the republican have to look evil. We are not going to give in on your socialist propoganda. Hey cappy after you watched "Nailin Palin" Id think youd draw a better picture of Palin instead of covering her up completely in an armour suit.

LOL no...it was a bad transition. I was first talking about my tax money helping druggies then it was about you saying that mccain looks like a corpse and thats why you drew him evil. Then I said Remeber Lex Luthur was evil but beautiful while hulk was good but ugly and deformed. And yes I choke my cutomers till their faces turn not red but black and blue. Black and blue like the welfare loving Democrates they are. Get it, democrats are blue and their leader is black.

I guess I'm racist and fear mongering because I'm a registered Republican... *sigh*

The Republican Party isn't the Republican Party. It hasn't been for a long time. They have been destroying itself since the inside strife and breaking into fractions. That's why I voted for a 3rd Party candidate (did so last election). I'm starting to believe that if everyone would let go of their parties and actually listen to other candidates than the main two parties', we will have change. Until then, it's just business as usual in the White House...

Hecka Late Cappy writes:
Party loyalty is definitely one of the problems that has held America back from true progress and aisle crossing. I think I stated in the description, that McCain was a person who tried to do this, and was character assassinated.

I actually didn't read your rant, because I went super fangirly from seeing one of my two favorite things put together: politics and Megaman X. By the way, I don't want you to think that I forgot about you. I making a list ditch push to finally getting my mom to drive me down to Stockton to get an interview with you (because my interview is due on December 6th and I can't do it on the last week of November of course because of Thanks Giving, plus I'll be in Boston) So... Make sure your free next weekend or the week after that or something or at least the slightest flexible. I'm 90% sure that if I get my work done over the weekend, I'll have a mano e mano interview with you. Otherwise, my backup plan is the over the phone interview (where I have to get special permission from my English teacher because they're retards like that) Just to warn you, I'll have these pre made questions that I HAD to do because its required and I'll have to ask you them in a half assed sort of manner. At least I feel like their stupid and unnecessary because I know will have a very accomplished interview with our understanding.
I hope everything goes well for you and you keep up your art gallery as usual. You have been very patient (or keeping yourself busy with something or thinking that I wasn't taking this seriously) You are still as awesome and if I do come, I will have the original piece to "O captain, my captain"
