Description
So this story that has been really eating away at my head, now a comic piece is a new territory for me to explore so please bear with me if figures and lines are inconsistent with each other. But yeah, this project took me a hell of a long time to get started. And might be awhile to finish.To bring anyone up to speed interested in this, this will be about Lapis expressing her regrets after unfusing with Malachite and redeeming herself.

It would be a crime for the writers not to pursue this kind of idea for Lapis later in the series.
After all, this show is wonderfully deep.

True, main reason I hear thrown around is that Lapis is the strongest gem in the series which is why recruiting her to the team is constantly delayed ;_;

Yeah, big downside to having her potentially being the strongest Gem around would mean they could win their fights quicker and with little effort if she joined the team.

I feel like this is exactly what will actually happen. Steven's a nice kid, he's even still convinced Peridot can be good, and we don't know what he really thinks about Jasper as he hasn't talked about her much. I get the feeling that once they find Malachite and free Lapis Lazuli, defeat and bubble (So as to contain) Jasper, Lapis will stick around to be with Steven, her only real friend. Steven will do his best to cheer her up, and show her what can be good about Earth, and even get her to work with Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst in defending the Earth. Maybe his time spent with her, and helping her heal from her....thousands of years of imprisonment, followed by a short break, then abuse and imprisonment once more, will help him heal the corrupted Gems (My vote is on either the Centipeedle, or one of the beetles, who aren't inherently hostile). Finally, I get the feeling that Steven will either start Crushing on Lapis at some point and be torn between her and Connie, Connie/Lapis will crush on the other (Either one being the origin works) or Lapis will start to crush on steven (A little weird, so I place this as the least likely of the possibilities) and conflict between Steven, Connie, and Lapis will arise from it.

I agree with pretty much everything. I particularly like your prediction of Lapiz's feelings for Steven potentially developing into a crush. It'll sort of parallel the Pearl/Rose/Greg love triangle where Lapiz's feelings of loyalty for Steven turn into something romantic but won't be reciprocated because the Stevonnie ship had sailed long before she came into the picture (basically like with Rose and Greg except Steven and Connie knew each other before Steven and Lapiz met). This could lead to various conflicts between Lapiz and Connie where (like with Pearl) Lapiz grows jealous of Connie and may even begin resenting her. If well written enough (and we all know it's possible with Rebecca Sugar), it could lead to some really interesting developments between the characters. I really like and support your ideas!

Who knows, maybe at some time, a little bit of feud and team work situations might help Lapis enough to call Earth her new home.
