Description
Edit: Part II (How to Get a Literary Agent) is now up.I've never seen a writing tutorial on dA (or at least run into one....I'm sure there must be some out there), especially not one covering how to get one's writing published. Also, since I've been getting a ton of questions about this process, I thought the best way would be to make a tutorial. Pardon the randomness of this.......I know this probably doesn't apply to a LOT of people, as it only targets those who are interested in publishing a novel. Still, I hope it's helpful to some of you out there! This info is still kind of obscure to find, although there are a lot of books out now that talk specifically about how to get your novel into the hands of literary agents and publishers. You can find these books often in their own section at Barnes & Noble, or if you search online for them. Many published authors also have how-to sections on their websites dedicated to aspiring writers.
Again, random I know......... This is Part I of a series, although I don't know how many it'll take to get the info across. You could write a million pages about the process and still not finish. O__O I'm just covering the general information, the essentials that anyone would need to know when just starting out. If you're writing a novel and want to be published, I hope this helps! Thanks, and if you have any additional questions, please feel free to post them in my current journal. That way, other people with the same question can see the answer. Thanks again.
(Note: Just for anyone who is curious, I like writing fantasy stories.

Funny that the first thing posted over at my prose account was a horror story!
But I am currently shopping a Fantasy story right now. Realms of Fantasy currently has it and I hope to hear something back from them soon!
The funny thing is, I'm actually going to have some of my poetry published before my prose writing! Its funny because I have been writing prose for about a year and a half and poetry for only about 4 months!

Very cool! Congrats, because poetry is very difficult to get published and the fact that you did says a lot.
And Realms of Fantasy is HUGE! Oyoy, best of luck with them and I really hope you get in!

Thanks on both accounts, but I have no delusions about ROF. Its my first fantasy short story and while I think its okay, I doubt it will make it. (Pssss, its all a part of my plan of not getting my hopes up too high!) I'll shop to all the biggies and if that doesn't work, I'll start with the E-zines.
The biggest thing I found is to keep writing and be persistent and keep sending your work out!

I heard of many young which were under the age of fifteen to publish a book.
I wrote a sci-fi novel with 257 pages, how do i get an agent in the age of 13?

Yeah, I'm in the mists of a book, and I'm 13 as well. I wanna wait until I'm at least 16 though before I decide to ship it off. You never know how good it can get.

This information is very reflective of what they teach in Writer's Workshops. "Be ready for rejection letters and dissapointments, but never give up hope." It's refreshnig and encouraging to see such a tutorial. I shall work harder from now on!
Thanks for the tutorial! ^_^

Nice, someone needs to start off what others can't.
