Description Hello. This thing might actually work out. Mechanic in the back pulls the bowstring with the slide, the slide pulls an arrow out of the magazine, shoot...simple and fast reload system.

An interesting weapon. Does the trigger activate some sort of powerful motor that automatically draws the bow back?

Great in every way. Can it fit on a 3d printer.

Thanks tchalla! I don't know about 3d printers but it is doable old fashion hands-on style .

I think that mag-fed crossbows actually exist, so yes it probably would work.

However, the scope is too far forward to be used effectively and is usually positioned above or slightly behind the the grip (unless it's a crossbow for kaminoans).

Technical aspects aside, the modeling is fantastic. I like the circular indentations near the front of the scope and the panels on the crossbow arms.

Excellent job.

Also, the sights are not a problem if they're non-magnified holographics. The placement of a 1x holosight is based on preference, most people just prefer that the sight is close to their eye.

Fair point, but having the sight over the grip also makes the weapon more balanced and not as front-heavy. It's not a huge difference, but there's no reason not to.

Again, just a matter of personal preference. Some like their crossbows to be a little front-heavy, as it can help negate the recoil a little bit (I can say from experience, crossbows have a surprising amount of recoil).

Another thing to consider: the farther forward on the rail, the less the (reflex) sight obscures your vision. Situational awareness and all...

That is, indeed, a fact.

Alright. I concede. The scope is fine where it is.

I don't think we should have any illusions about trying to balance a crossbow, but it's true a little could help. I do see plenty of shooters choose to place their reflex sights far down the rail like this though.

If it comes with a magnifier, then I agree.

It most certainly is possible. The Chinese Zhuge Nu could fire forty bolts a minute in trained hands. That being said, it needed weaker tension to make that feasible, so they used poisoned bolts to make up for their lack of penetration.

Wasn't this a hip shooter meant for barrage fire?

Extraintelligence In reply to UrzuEhren [2013-09-20 21:15:24 +0000 UTC]

It was faster to fire if you kept it at the hip, but it could be brought to the shoulder to improve accuracy.

Van Hellsing and f?%king HΓ€nsel (maybe gretel) have one . Scope is good were it is, it doesn't need eyeball contakt. But glad you like it!
