Description more tank WIP with a bit of interior. note this is an electric tank which frees up a lot of space in the back.

Also note, the barrel is short for a reason, it fires missile round similarΒ to the m551 sheridan.

i am personally a tank fan I love this design! it's definitely a new direction for thinking. i assume it's a auto reload tank with only 2 crew

but....
1. where is a the space for for the shell storage since you mount the space at the turret rear with a remote station?
2. where is the space for the auto loader, these loader are not big however they require quite some space to operate, you can check out the interior design of T14 Armata, T72, merkava, andΒ AMX Leclerc about the auto reloader. they are all available in google

could you show these details with another picture, sorry i cant see the shell storage and reloader layout from this angle. thanks!
great appreciation! keep up the great design work

The ammunition is in the back of the turret on the sides, you can kinda see ammunition storage modules (2x) there on the side.
I don't remember what the shell count was, i believe it was between 25 and 50.

I actually did design an autoloader for this one, i'll have to look back at the archive to see where it went.

Nice! Short-barrel cannon, that's an interesting choice, I like it!Β Β

One question with the internal layout:
Where is the power-plant meant to be located, and what type of drive is being employed? It appears that the vehicle incorporates seating in the rear section, so I'm just wondering where the track drives and engine(s) would be located.

The vehicle is front wheel drive, you can't see the motor or all of the batteries in this image though. I forgot to mention it's electrically powered too which allows for a fairly massive expansion of internal space, kind of like how the tesla model S has both an open front trunk and an open back trunk because the motors are so tiny and the batteries can occupy previously unusable space.

I'm thinking it would require a range of 300 mi or so to be practical and 1500hp from 4 different motors in the front (which i already fitted in but you can't see them in this image).
I've also been pondering remote powering systems like using a MASER for sending energy and a micro rectenna for receiving energy at something like 50% efficiency depending on range and weather, this would perhaps be a bit too sci-fi, but it is supposed to be a futuristic design anyways. again, i'll have to do more research on this to see if it's even possible.

something i just noticed is that the seats face eachother in this image, they're supposed to face the center to give the guys some leg room*

An electric drive does seem practical for a post-modern tank, given that recent electrically powered cars are already workable, and that advanced in battery technology promise significant gains in energy density within the next decade. You would also get excellent torque at low ranges from electric motors, which would be excellent for an armored vehicle.
One thing to note is that if you are using a battery system mounted on the bottom of the hull, you may want to consider its mine resistance factor, since IEDs could pose a significant damage risk to a hull mounted battery pack. Then again, if an IED penetrates your vehicle's lower hull at all, there are likely to be problems.

I'm glad you agree that electric is a good idea, not to be a broken record but i'll show where the batteries are in the finished piece Xp
they're mainly going to be above the tracks and in between the passenger space (I rearranged things so there's a lot more room fro stuff in there)
as for IEDs, it has a V-type hull for resisting them, though i'm not sure how to get around the problem of IEDs destroying the tracks.

A V shaped hull would add good mine protection (as evidenced by the Merkava), though I don't know of any way that the tracks could be protected effectively. Your best bet on that front would likely be some kind of forward sensor intended to detect potential threats on the ground in front of the vehicle and alert the crew. Which such a system would be fairly complex, it could likely be achieved with some type of ground scanning cameras and other sensors, and a smart enough software package. While that system wouldn't physically protect the tracks, it would at least provide some warning.

tankitytankitytank!

Also, not sure a short barreled howitzer is such a good idea on an obvious main battle tank.

it looks great, although the barrel is a bit stubby if you ask me.

MrJumpManV4 In reply to Star-trek-Parker [2015-03-10 18:39:20 +0000 UTC]

I get the feeling a lot of people are going to point that out Xp
it fires anti tank guided missiles so barrel length isn't of too much consequence.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Star-trek-Parker In reply to MrJumpManV4 [2015-03-11 00:07:49 +0000 UTC]

yeah, that's really the only solution to that problem XD. granted, if it's firing missiles it may be more advantageous to have multiple barrels. most missile launching systems that aren't handheld generally have a whole array of launching points, plus a mutli-barreled tank is awesome. just look at like, half the tanks designed between world war one and world war two, everybody wants extra barrels XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MrJumpManV4 In reply to Star-trek-Parker [2015-03-11 10:12:00 +0000 UTC]

Yea multiple barrels is an interesting, it would probably add too much weight with the extra barrel and autoreloading mechanism.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Star-trek-Parker In reply to MrJumpManV4 [2015-03-11 10:44:30 +0000 UTC]

well, if it's a guided missile, why the barrel anyways?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MrJumpManV4 In reply to Star-trek-Parker [2015-03-12 00:19:28 +0000 UTC]

Many reasons, for one it allows the ammunition to be stored further back where they're less likely to get damaged, it allows for direct fire with high angles of elevation and low angles of depression. The rounds can also have an initial propellant to accelerate them to 800m/s. I'll go into more detail on the final design but those are just a few reasons.
