Description Sorry for the bad picture, but it was dark and I'm lacking a good editing program at the moment. Just wanted to post this, and tell the story behind it.

I'm sorry for the wall of text, no need to read it, I just want to tell the story. I'm also sorry for misspelling and typos.

Story behind the photo:
When my dad picked me up from school yesterday, he told me that my aunt had heard some weird noises when she was cleaning grandmaΒ΄s house. We sold it a week ago, and we gave the new owners the keys today. But anyway, me and my dad went to grandmaΒ΄s house to check what the sound was. My aunt said she thought it sounded like kittens, but my dad didn't really believe her. It turned out to be two very small kittens.
The house have been empty for some weeks now, and then we suddenly started to clean it up one last time before the new owners moved in, and it seemed to have scared away the mom, so the kittens had been alone for 1 or 2 days. When my dad and I found them they came to us from they hiding, and we took them with us. We couldn't leave them there without their mom and the house was sold and everything.
When we got home we called a place that takes care of homeless cats, and one of the ladies that works there is a vet. We could keep them, they were too small to live without their mom and we don't have what we need or the time to take care of them. So the lady said we could come to the cat place later and then they would take care of the kittens. We did, but before that I had to keep an eye on them for some hours. It was great I have never really liked small things like puppies and kittens, at least not when they are very small and helpless. I'm afraid they are going to break in half if I look at them, and I don't really know what to do This time it was something else. I opened the cage and sat down next to it. They had no idea what was going on and were hiding behind each other inside the cage. The biggest of them were the bravest, and it didn't take long before he/she was walking carefully and very clumsy around on the floor. A little later his/her little sister came out of the cage as well (I assumed she was a she because she had 3 colors, and because of how the cat genes work it very rare on males).
Anyway, after half an hour, they both found their way onto my lap. I didn't pick them up and put them there, I just sat very still and watched them... it was weird, but at the same time, very nice
It was hard to give them to the lady, and it got even harder when she said they may not survive. She said she was going to help them as much as she could, but she couldn't promise success.

I hope they make it, I really do

Also, I think I know who is the owner of the mom (It's not too many cats around, and most of them are males). And this is not the first time she have given birth to kittens away from her home. The owners don't want kittens, not very long ago, a teen cat came to us and stayed around for a while, the teen cat was a kitten of the cat as well. Our neighbors told us he had tried several times to tell the owners of the mom to take care of the kittens and if they didn't want kittens they could sterilize their cat... They don't want to sterilize her, but they don't want to kittens either..

I think I'm going to take this down soon, I just wanted to share the story and the cuteness

so sweet! and a similar thing happened to me earlier this year! Two small kittens were dumped in a field across from my house, and we took them in and they lived in the laundry room of my house for a few weeks. They were the sweetest things alive. However, we have plenty of other pet cats, so my mom wasn't too keen on keeping them. A family came and took them, and to be honest, I know that the people would take good care of them, but I had grown so attached to them. The family promised to call us and give us updates, but we never heard from them again -_-

poor kittens :c
It's a very good that you took them in and saved them :3 I really dislike people that just throw their pets away like that.. it's stupid. I have a cat, and she was left behind by her first owner when he decided to move away.. :c He didn't care to find her a new home, good thing that a woman at my momΒ΄s work knew about the cat and asked mom if I wanted it (my mom and dad had been planning to let me get a kitten, and mom told the woman at work about it)
Stupid of them to promise to give updates, but then don't do it. ._.

I know you didn't keep them, but I offer this for future reference.
Taking care of young animals like this can be simple, but does take some work and some commitment. A commercially available kitten food like KMR is a good choice for kittens in this situation. However baby formula for humans can also be substituted for mothers milk with kittens. And it's easy to find. In the USA, Similac and Enfamil are probably the two best known brands. Google "baby formula"or "baby formula for animals" to see which brands might be available where you are. Trying to use commercial human milk from cows is not nutritional enough. You can feel confident that the animals will get what it needs nutritionally using human baby formula, but it is more expensive than cows milk. If your caregiver has no budget, the kittens may have difficulty.
People and animals need food, shelter, and love. The love can simply be companionship of another warm body. A warm body can be substituted with a hot water bottle or heating pad wrapped in towels. Sometimes, clocks that make ticking sounds help to duplicate the sound of a heartbeat. Wrap it inside the towels with the heater. The young animal will snuggle up to the "companion" and will feel safe. Be careful not to overheat the "nest". Use the lowest setting with a heating pad and allow extra space for the kitten to move away from the heat if necessary. All animals, including humans, need to be held or petted, or licked, like a cat will lick a kitten. (I'm NOT suggesting people lick kittens ) Your lap makes a good nest too
I'm guessing that these kittens are at least 3 weeks old. This is based on their eyes being opened (usually about 14 days). By about 3 weeks old, the ears will be erect. Kittens can be weaned to cat food around 4 - 4 1/2 weeks. Maybe sooner.
I didn't know that about the genes and coloring like you mention. Very cool. It remind me of human eyes. Some colors are dominant.
I don't like that your neighbor knows that their cat keeps having kittens that they don't want, but won't sterilize it. That is very irresponsible. Domesticated animals without homes have very hard lives. It was very kind of you to help these kittens. Many people wouldn't. Like the owner of the cat.
Sorry this is so long. I just love animals. Thank you for helping them!

I really wanted to keep them, but because of their state (they were both weak because the mother hadn't dared to go back to the house for 12-24 hours) they needed extra attention and the chance that they will make it is slim :c It's a wonderful experience to save a animal and take care of it. I got my cat when I was 6-7, she was almost a year old and were going to get put to sleep because the owner had left her behind when he moved to another house. It's been wonderful to see the change from the scared cat then, that didn't trust anyone (the owner wasn't really nice to her, and some random teenagers hurt her brother so he had to be put to sleep some weeks before I got her), to the wonderful cat she is now
It was clear that they were looking for another warm body. They have never seen a human before my dad and I found them, and were very scared of me at first. But I sat still and didn't really know what to do, after a while the orange(ish) kitten came and smelled my sock, and felt the warmth from my body. It climbed up on my lap from there, and after some time the dark one came up on my lap as well :3
The experience I have with cats in general is that they tend to be very hairy, so I don't think licking them would be the best idea
My guess is that they are 3 weeks old as well, I don't know very much about kittens even if I love cats. I based it on that they had opened their eyes and their size. In 9th grade I worked with the vet (the same vet I gave the kittens to) for a week (It's a school project that students work with someone that got the career we want for a week, to learn more about it) and then someone came with two kittens that were about 4 weeks old.
We had a lot about genes at school last year, and I found it very interesting when my teacher used cats as an example with coloring. So I have read a little about it since then, and it's because of the kromozoms that decides if it's male or female
I don't like my neighbors very much, it's not the first time their cats have given birth to kittens, and the owners still don't care. Earlier this year a young female cat stayed around our house for a while, and some of the other neighbors told us it was one of the surviving kittens of the same cat. But one they it just disappeared, so we couldn't do much about it.
These kittens may have changed my live. When I'm done with school I'm going to contact places like the one here for cats, and tell them that I want to help, and that I gladly take the extra time and energy to take care of homeless kittens like these

sorry for typos and such, I'm a little tired and can't really focus on my grammar and typing :c

I wish I could do something to help them D: Guess I have something needed to give them food, but it's good that their at the vet now ^^

I'm actually more afraid of handeling human babies than kittens x)

I wish I could do more to help them, but it's not very much I can do :c I don't got the time (nor do the rest of my family) to take care of the kittens since they need so much attention and need a mom, nor do I have the experience to save them :c I know the vet and I know if someone can save them, it's her. So I'm glad she is taking care of them for now, and later she is going to find new families for the kittens

Me too, I don't really understand what they need/want, and I feel so helpless :c but it was easy to understand the kittens x3

They are soooo cuuutee ;_; the fact that their personalities are way cuter than their looks makes it even harder to let them go.. I died :c and now my heart is broken because I had to give them away :c

I hope they find good homes as well :3 and that they will live till they get old and lazy like my cat x3
