Official title: What if Eight Crazy Nights Was More Like A Christmas Carol
Thought I'd post this in honor of tonight being the first night of Hanukkah.
As I am sure people know, Adam Sandler's animated project, Eight Crazy Nights, was a holiday comedy that was more disgusting and mean-spirited than funny. So I thought what if it was a Hanukkah version of A Christmas Carol?
In this version, Davey would still be the town troublemaker, but he wouldn't be as sociopathic as he was in the movie. One night, he gets visited by the ghost of an old friend of his, who was also a troublemaker (more on that later), and warns Davey that he should change his ways and be visited by three spirits so he won't end up like him, a la Jacob Marley. The Ghost of Hanukkah Past shows Davey how after his parents were killed in a car accident (just like in the actual movie), Davey abandoned his friends and girlfriend, Jennifer, and joined a gang of delinquents lead by the new friend whose ghost warned Davey earlier. The Ghost of Hanukkah Present shows Davey how Jennifer wants to reconnect with Davey, and that her son Benjamin is being bullied in school, and at the risk of turning into what Davey became. TGOHP also shows Davey that Whitey (who's Davey's uncle in this version) that he too wants to reconnect with Davey. The Ghost of Hanukkah Yet to Come shows Davey a future in which Davey is in prison for committing a big crime, and Benjamin has become a delinquent. After all of this, Davey decides to change his ways. He makes peace with Jennifer (and starts a relationship with her), and also makes amends with Whitey. What do you think?
