Description Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minutus) - In flight
Roberts VII - 78

These small heron type birds are very secretive and are very well camouflaged in their surroundings of dry reed beds. After a largely unsuccesful day out I was thrilled to be able to see this bird at last and capture it on "film".

Here it is stalking the reeds

I love the composition in this one. Bird shots with just the bird in in are nice, but when you catch some of the surrounding environment like this, it makes the image so much more real for me.

I'm guessing you know that a bittern is so rare in the UK, i've only ever seen a great bittern once in norfolk, and it was the most amazing thing ever. They have such an amazing sound. I love this picture its fantastic your camera (Obviously) is amazing, i can't wait to grab my money together to buy mine x
