400mm used, this is quite near to a top predator. And it already looks to you. How close have you really been? Do they not further care about humans coming close?

The Leopards in the Sabi Sands are very habituated it must be said and really don't care about the vehicles too much. You can't park on top of them but you can get very close.

I can't see the full view! He looks gorgeous - and I love a kitty that forgets to suck his tongue back in...

ian this is great. Full frame really does it justice. am i right in saying that any of the Eos Ds' are full frame?
Loving the new work. I'm saving up for a new L glass lens but i'm completely baffled as to what to save for...
any advice? prime, wide angle or zoom lenses... you've got nearly all of canons products i thought i'd ask you

Thanks Phil. The 1Ds-Mark II and the 1Ds-Mark III and the 5D are all full-frame sensors (ie 35mm equivalent)
Difficult to say what len you should save for as I'm not sure what you want to achieve, certainly nothing wrong with the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS though!

ah class thats really cool. I would love one of those but i don't have lots of money and i wouldn't know how to use it
That 70-200 is a lovely lens, maybe thats worth saving for, as i'm going to be going to plenty of gigs to do work for some bands, i need a fast lens to work with so that might be a challenge... Not to mention the macbook i've just bought
hope to hear from you soon.
Phil

What a beautiful animal. So graceful and natural.
I want to snuggle it, but methinks that would be a bad idea.

Heh, most likely. But cats usually love me. I'd have him purring in no time.
