Description

To prove I'm still drawing and not just taking photos of car wrecks, here's a character design from Lust of the Dakini. Some of you may recall the previous designs for the would-be suitor for Tahiya and reluctant Dakini (Daka), the warrior-shaman, Karti Keya. Well now's he's all warrior and all Naga while we're at it.

Lust of the Dakini was originally going to be a parody of the video game Doom in its very early incarnation. As time went by, as that idea weaned and went away completely, it offered more free reign to experiment as I please, and as a result, Karti went from being the Cyberdemon equivalent to a creature embodying several aspects of Hindu culture and mythology. I also half-rolled with the idea design-wise of him being a long lost brother of Zulie Zerpent (and funnily enough she originally was going to have a brother or boyfriend along this line too).

The current backdrop of Karti consists of him being very serious in the art of war, determined to bring honour to his nomadic warrior people and the bloodline of his heroic father, the latter of which perished in battle. However, how he deals with the Daka form (pictured here) and what said Naga nomads think of his condition, as well as everyone else for that matter looks set to test his character in more ways than one.

As a disclaimer, his surname Keya is currently a placeholder and it may not be so in the final print. As I'm exploring my own mythology of a fictional world, references Earth mythos is going to be kept loose. Taraka remains the name of his associate, however just like the Hindu Lore states.
