Description I just had to make a picture of these two together XD
On nearly every page where Stan appears on they say he was based on the look/design of Brer Fox.
Well if you look at his nose and cheeks, I would admit, Stan is a woozle, so basically a weasel and does not look like one of those typical Disney weasels you see in WFRR or Christmas Carol and so on.
However they both are some of my alltime favorite characters.
I only saw Song of the south just once as a child, I don´t even remember where it was because I didn´t have the movie myself, so I must have seen it somewhere. Wish they would have more stories or a cartoon series of it.

Stan took me two whole days to make, maybe 2 and a few hours with doing some finish on him.
But it is only because he is so big. He really is large and everything is hand sewn.
I guess with a sewing machine I would be a lot faster XD
The Greasy I have is not very soft, that´s true, actually I have 3 Greasy plushies XD
The first one is soft, he was made of fake fur, real polecat fur and black dyed blue fox fur on his hairs.
But he does not look very autentic and doesn´t even have clothes.
Then I have a very small Greasy plush doll made of normal felt fabric which indeed is not soft, but the doll is not really a plushy anyway.
The last one I made is also quite big, has a real fox tail with a black tip, I kinda can´t get along with weasels just having stubs as tails XD
He also got a hat, pants and shoes, but I never got to make him a shirt and a tie and a coat.

3 Greasy's!
Nice!!
The last one sounds awesome...do you have a picture?

I used to think Doom cut their tails off and that Greasy still had his, and that it was under his cape XD
But now that I think about it, that would be creepy...

No I sadly didn´t make photos of them, only of the oldest one.
They both are so wobbly because the felt is thin and their thin body parts like legs and arms and so on always tend to bend down.

Oh, um Greasy only could have his tail in his pants. I have tons of screen shots on my old PC and there you can see a few where you see his but and there is no tail, not even below his coat.

Was it good?
Most of the TP fan fictions I see now are only about the Toon Patrol falling in love
XD

LOL it was a kind of prequel to the movie, how the weasels met judge Doom and stuff, but there also was a bit of love and stuff in it.
But it was ok

I actually drew a picture of them reading fanfics a few weeks ago, but didn't post it yet ^^
A couple years ago (I think. Or it might have been last year.) there was a really short fanfic called Smarty and the Girls....
😢
Not inappropriate...just creepy LOL.

I wouldn't have made the connection really. It's just a similarity in drawing style.

Yeah but it is no surprise since both is Disney LOL
But the funny thing is that Brer Fox is rather old compared to Stan.
It would surprise me if they would really have dug him out and create a 'new form' of him for a new character.
Stan of course had a completely different body shape, he has short legs and a thicker tail which reminds me on a kangaroo tail or river otter tail, but both have similar faces.

He could have either been designed by the same person or inspired by him I guess.

That could be, I have no idea how long those character designers usually work for Disney XD
They both are about ca 40 years apart from each other.

Do you think Stan was based on Brer Fox?

Hard to say, a LOT of cartoon characters are based off of other cartoon characters, regardless of it if was intentional or not.

RensMeerkat In reply to MrWolf86 [2014-07-25 21:35:41 +0000 UTC]

Hard to say. A lot of characters were based on other characters. Lion King is said to be be based of of Kimba the White Lion, KM's personality is based off of several characters and her right ear being torn off is no coincidence. She will tell you she got it in a fight with her mother, the scars over her right eye are metaphorical of the physiological abuse my mother inflicted on me) but the ripped off ear was inspired by a certain character.

MrWolf86 In reply to RensMeerkat [2014-07-25 21:53:51 +0000 UTC]

LOL and I know which one XD
Oh yeah it is really no surprise how you can see Simba is based of Kimba. Even the names sound similar.
It is also funny that most stories aren´t even made by Disney himself or someone who he was related to.
Most movies were from books or some other tales and stuff.
It is a neat idea to just make book stories into movies. Which I do not like mostly of the cases is just that Disney always changes the original story. A good example is The Jungle Book.
Everyone knows that movie, but nearly none knows that the original is totally different from the Disney movie. But in some cases Disney came up with some really cool and adorable characters which originally never made it into the originals, for example Stan.
The Disney series of Winnie the Pooh came up with 'real' woozles while they were just in Poohs imagination in the original books.

LOL as I remember those were even still imagination in the series. They never appeared in the series as far as I can remember. But that doesn´t mean they do not exist.
