Description
I just had to make a picture of these two together XDOn nearly every page where Stan appears on they say he was based on the look/design of Brer Fox.
Well if you look at his nose and cheeks, I would admit, Stan is a woozle, so basically a weasel and does not look like one of those typical Disney weasels you see in WFRR or Christmas Carol and so on.
However they both are some of my alltime favorite characters.
I only saw Song of the south just once as a child, I don´t even remember where it was because I didn´t have the movie myself, so I must have seen it somewhere. Wish they would have more stories or a cartoon series of it.

Brer Fox probably wouldn’t know what a Woozle is and call Satan a Weasel or a Ferret.

LOL thanks, I also like both, I just got B'er Fox to know much later because the movie was not so well known in Germany and the Winnie the Pooh series ran on TV for almost 20 years nonstop LOL

I've loved Song of the South since I was little.
Since I live in San Diego, it wouldn't be hard to go to Disneyland and see them because it's in Los Angeles.

I heard Disney Land is so expensive, I wonder what the entry alone costs for an adult person O.o
But that is practically to live near that thing. Our next Disney Land is in Paris X3

Thanks XD well I saw it on a couple of pages where it was stated that Stan has a lot in common with Brer Fox, the design, the fried he works with to get what he wants, the fact that they are both villains.

I knew these two looked alike! Also there was a one-shot Looney Tunes character that strongly resembled Stan the woozle. And that's the Big Bad Wolf from Three Little Bops (1957) directed by Friz Freleng.

I think it is the muzzle and the fluffy cheeks which are often used on several characters and so they have all a quite similar look.

WOW Ya drew Br'er Fox amazingly He was then my no 1 before Mad Dog, and he's now no. 2.
I think he was forgotten by the newer generations because of one stupid Disney CEO's decision ("Song of the South" was banned because of being racist).

I heard it was banned. I have no idea but they didn´t show the movie on TV here for so many years because of that. I can see why but on the other hand it shows that back then when the movie was made it was just 'normal' that people there in the US had slaves. I think it is wrong to just ban it because of that, it is just showing that they are ashamed about their history. When I think of how many movies are made today about slavery and other stuff like that people should be ashamed of, but should deal with it more mature and stand for what their culture has done and just try to ban those thought people still have. I know there are people in the US who still think apartion and slavery should still be active, like we also still deal with neo-nazis who hate foreign people and people of other religions.
We can´t ban our history from our culture, we only can make it better.
I think there for that the movie takes place in a time where slavery was still common, and black people have been treated badly, it also does not show harm towards the black people playing their roles, and everyone talked with each other with respect.
I mean, today people who work for others are still treated like workers, not like friends or something, but in the movie it was not different.
I know the truth was different, slaves were treated like shit, and even today people in normal jobs are sometimes treated the same way which is a shame, it should be better. I just mean therefore that the movie is rather harmless, it is silly to ban it.

All things that you've said there are true and I'm definetely right with you. But I heard also about another evidence of banning (for me, stupidly) "Song of the South". In the black - and - white version of this film,, as it shown in one of the documentaries, Br'er Fox looked like an Afro person (black face and white muzzle).

It wasn't entirely forgotten- Song of the South was re-released in American theaters in 1986, corresponding with Splash Mountain in Disneyland, and the Pooh TV series started in 1988.
The last time it was publicly released was in 1991, when it was put out on tape in the UK.

Oh I didn´t know that. I remember in Germany te VHS video tapes came out somewhere in the 80s, but that was about most older Disney videos like Bambi, Robin Hood and The Jungle Book.

Because of the controversy, Disney likes to pretend the characters from Song of the South come from Splash Mountain. (Not literally, but you know what I mean, right?)

MrWolf86 In reply to tymime [2014-08-07 07:36:42 +0000 UTC]
You mean the idea was there first before the movie was made? I have no idea what was there first, but I bet it was not Splash Mountain XD
When I hear that it sounds like Disney was ashamed about his own movie.

I'm not sure what idea you mean, but the movie came first, and then the ride. I don't think Disneyland had anything built on that spot before then...

Either you saw SOTS on the big screen in a theater or on TV I would think. I know outside the US, some countries have had better chances of seeing the film than we did. The UK often had it on the BBC during Christmastime in the past and there had been a VHS release there as well. I own a Japanese LaserDisc edition of the film that has both English and Japanese audio tracks to switch between.

MrWolf86 In reply to studio-toledo [2014-07-26 08:40:27 +0000 UTC]
It was on VHS definitely and I think I remember where I saw it.
I have seen an advertisement of it and got a VHS from a video rental shop when I was about 6 or 7 years old.
I didn´t see it in the theaters, but maybe I must have seen an advertisement on tv or something because otherwise I never would have known of the film. I remember we had that toys and office shop when I was a child and we also got newspapers and also something the newest Disney VHS videos to sell them and I usually always got one of them for my own, so my Disney movie collection was quite big after some years XD
But that was one of the very few videos I never used to own for some odd reason.

I saw them on ebay a couple days ago, was thinking of buying one too for my own XD
But in most cases I personally find the plushies from most companies are not so pretty so I often end up sewing my own plushies of different characters.

MrWolf86 In reply to Frostedmountain [2014-07-28 08:48:16 +0000 UTC]
Maybe because today they have more possibilities to make good looking plushies for accurate prices.
I have no idea XD
Still, some chars were made by special companies. I remember I had an old Duchess plushy which was from the 90s and she looked really handsome, but the today's plushies of her or the other Aristocats characters don´t look that great. Same about Timon.
I have that small plushy of him with the plastic head, he also has thread in his arms O_O
The new ones don´t look so good I think.

Yeah. My cousin has a newer Timon (he's 7) and he carries it around a lot...and, to me, it doesn't really even look like Timon LOL.
I have the new-ish Prince John plushie (from Robin Hood) and they made him cross-eyed, and his crown tends to be swen on really poorly, as it has broken a couple times...But those EYES. One of the reasons I still have it. He looks funny lol.
Now I wish they would release Toon Patrol plushies (accurate ones that are made well, that is! )
